Take a look at the calories. It is less. It has a different make-up of

poly, mono, etc. type fats and the energy is less. I think that to

simplify the calculations, the keto book gives different fats different

gm/gm of fat per 100 gm instead of talking about the difference in

energy. I could be wrong.

Selenium is simply a desireable trace mineral that helps with health. I

gave it when my daughters hair was falling out. Not sure if that was the

reason as we also went to a better supplement but I guess every little

bit helps. Yes, macadamia is good for high fat. We give them as treats.

Not sure what the difference is in taste as I find them all very bland.

What is your mineral supplement? There are many variations on the diet

depending on your keto team. We use Whole Life from California. They

have 2 or 3 variations for mineral and vitamin/mineral supplements.

Apparently they taste bad, but we are using a g-tube so that isn't an issue.

Sorry, my daughter is 27 years old and doesn't do finger foods,

especially not on the diet. There are recipes somewhere on the website

that others here can direct you to.

Yes, Dr. Freeman's book is our bible. We haven't used coconut

oil/butter. I use Becel margarine which many here would " tech, tech "

about. I melt it in the microwave, then cook it with eggs and other

ingredients for a fritata. I am a lazy cook. It still takes up a lot of

time.

Macademia nuts are practically the perfect ketogenic ratio but selenium

is often lacking in the diet - can result in hair loss and I believe

also some sort of heart problem- so you want a multivitamin which

contains adequate amounts of it and it wouldn't hurt to be aware of and

use good sources of it.

Yes, Bill, it is a mineral.

But you want a good adult multivitamin and mineral supplment for the

diet, one that has adqaute quantities of both the vitamins and minerals.

Which is part of why the new CalMagZincIII doesn't impress me too much

-someone posted all the numbers want and it looked to be lacking a fair

bit

I think that you are right that the diet is lacking in nutrition. Yet,

if I look at what many young people are eating, some keto kids get

better. My daughter is healthy and in pretty good shape with few illnesses.

Cal-Mag-Zinc III has with each 1 tablespoon serving:

Calcium from several sources; 60% 600

Magnesium 75% 300

phosphorus 30% 300

folic acid 50% 200

biotin 13% 40

selenium 29% 20

chromium 17% 20

zinc 150% 22.5

vitamin D 100% 400

potassium 1% 50

vitamin A 54% 2700

vitamin C 100% 60

Iron 6% 1

vitamin E 100% 30

vitamin B1 100% 1.5

vitamin B2 100% 1.7

vitamin B6 100% 2

vitamin B12 100% 6

pantothenic acid 100% 10

My daughters blood tests don't show anything low. Just high cholesterol

as expected.
