Guest guest
Maybe that's one of the issues you need to deal with. You see, for me personally, I'd mush rather be alive and healthy than sick and in work or dead. A while back when I was working myself into the ground suffering all sorts of stress related problems and basically galloping toward a heart attack, a friend asked me... " what would you rather be, destitute or dead? " Well, I replied, " I think being a prostitute would be pretty hard " ... " No " ... " I said DESTITUTE! " .. Ah... but it made me sit back and think... the guy was my dentist and was explaining to me how stress had caused me to strain the ligaments in my face... SERIOUSLY! Bottom line is, not having a job isn't going to kill you... stress and diabetes can. For me, it became a total no-brainer. I immediately took 3 months off work, at the time I was self-employed so that meant no sick leave, no welfare nothing. But, I had my life and I turned things around. Guess you have to choose, but I know 1st hand, that it can be a tough choice. But I would suggest that you don't wait until things get worse and your body decides to make the choice for you. > This may sound odd, but my job comes first, as I have no insurance, my > schooling, if I pass it, will provide that for me with a good job. I > have really put myself into this, and if I do not pass, I will wind up > with no job skills.
Guest guest
I congratulate you, but if I coddle myself and avoid stress, I won't ever get on my feet. I have a stack of bills. Not being able to pay them is stressing me. If I die trying, I am far nobler than if I sat back on my fat butt and did nothing. We get what we work for. Right now, I have no insurance, an easy sales job, which I have made no money at...it is low stress, all that. If I finish school, I will have a chance at a high-stress job, but it will provide for me and my kids. There is no middle ground I have found! By the way, I loved your line about the " prostitute " vs. destitute!!! > > > But, I had my life and I turned things around. > > Guess you have to choose, but I know 1st hand, that it can be a > tough choice. Guest guest
LOL... " coddled " huh? I wish! Avoiding stress? Not really, just dealing with it better and not letting the same things stress you out at all. You seem to be stuck in a cycle of denial, my fingers are crossed that you break it and realise that the only things that matter for you and your family are your life, your health and you happiness. Everything else comes from those things. It's no good having superficial material things if your health is so bad that you cannot enjoy them. It's no good having a super high paid job, if the stress and your lack of being able to deal with it means that you're constantly ill. If you die trying, you're still dead. There's nothing noble about being dead. That's quiet possible the daftest thing I've ever heard. Talk about messed up priorities. Stress... you have no idea! Presumably you have made allowance for paying the bills when you're too sick to work? Harsh? But it really will come down to that. good luck, all the choices are yours to make > I congratulate you, but if I coddle myself and avoid stress, I won't > ever get on my feet. Guest guest
I didnt mean you, as far as the coddling bit, I meant myself! I think you're a fine guy, and a real inspiration, and I am sorry if I offended you! And I can't enjoy anything if I can't pay the bills. Nothing is more staggering than medical bills. Those can make you sicker. The job I will have will not be a high pay job by industry standards, but it will allow me to save something for retirement and live much better than I am now. I agree with you in that materialism is not good, but I am talking about getting by with the basics here. I don't qualify for any assistance, because I don't fit into any of their categories. I am not a pregnant woman, elderly, disabled, a child, or a minority. I have gone round with trying to get help. But I don't want to live the rest of my life, whatever it is, running the paper chase of trying to get help to pay the next big medical bill that comes my way. > > I congratulate you, but if I coddle myself and avoid stress, I won't > > ever get on my feet. Guest guest
To be honest, your medical bills may only get larger if you are diabetic and don't get to grips with it now. The cost of a meter can be practially nothing, look for special offers and strips can be bought cheaply from places like eBay saving you maybe half the price of what you'd pay in the stores. If you can make some changes now then you may save yourself from the financial hardship later. You also need to be aware that stress can effect your BG, Blood Pressure, digestion, metabolism, heart rate, brain function, muscle function and also make you prone to getting ill more frequently with things like tonsilitis. Stress is a sod, you need to get on top of it now. Perhaps then you may see some changes in the way you feel. good luck --- In diabetes , " pinksilk749 " <babyface355@h...> > But I don't want to live the rest of my life, whatever it is, running > the paper chase of trying to get help to pay the next big medical > bill that comes my way.
