Katera is on the SCD...... three and a half months now. We were on the keto diet

for a total of 2 yrs, 3 months but had started getting breakthrough seizures in

the last six months. As much as I believe in the Keto diet (we had nearly 100%

control for our first year), I could not seem to do any fine-tuning that helped

at all. I took her off the Keto diet in January, sticking *sort of* to a

low-carb, Atkins-ish plan.... and she was no different, better or worse, than

she had been on Keto.

Then in April, she had one tonic-clonic that were worse than what we'd seen in a

while. Another list member had mentioned the SCDiet to me and I read up

quickly..... and right away moved Katera over, just going by their list of

" allowed " foods on one of the websites until I could get the book and " do it

right " . The biggest change for Katera immediately was going 100% grain-free. So

far, we've seen quite an impressive reduction in seizures. She'd been having two

or three per month and we have now only seen one since starting SCD. I'm not

about to declare absolute victory yet but we are liking what we see at this

point. For more info, go to www.pecanbread.com .

specific carb diet

Hi Everyone,

I had been out of the group for a while, when I returned

there was some mention of the specific carb diet. I plan to

research further, but in the meantime, I was wondering who,

if anyone, has been on the KGD then switched to the SCD? I

was wondering if your kids are still in ketosis on the

specific carb diet and how is the change going?

Any responses would be appreciated.

Thanks,

, Ally's mom
