Guest guest
Dogs can eat raw meat and bones .. it is the cooking that makes the bones brittle and tend to splinter. I still dont give my dogs chicken or turkey LEG bones .. just dont want to take the chance. Nor do they get ham bones. The ham bones are so soft that my male shepherd cracks them in half with one bite. The chicken necks and turkey necks are full of cartilage and bone marrow ... which is a good supplement for dogs that tend to have joint problems. My shepherds love them .. have been eating them all their lives .. but ALWAYS raw! They also get raw vegetables. Their favorite meal is mixed brocolli, carrots, bell pepper, garlic, yeast, 1/3 cup cooked brown rice and raw chicken necks. Three days out of the week, each shepherd gets 2 chicken necks or one big turkey neck plus about a cup of the veggies and rice. The rest of the week it is dry kibble with veggies for snacks. They love baby carrots. I used to get teased by the other K9 trainers .. there we would be .. they with their liver cookies and tennis balls .. and my dog and his carrots and plush hedgehog. They stopped laughing though, when my "wussy" dog was the one with a perfect score and their dogs were barely passing! My wussy dog (because of the hedgehog and carrots) could hold his own on the field! smiles.. I love my big guy (110 pounds, 28.5 inches tall)..
