I read this message from Pam this morning, then deleted it. I kept thinking about it today, though, & decided I can't let it go without saying something.

I've received many wonderful gifts from Secret Senders; I'm not going to try to list all of them (with my memory that would be impossible). I just want to let you know how much they mean to me. E-Cards: can tell you how much I like getting them; I get excited & make him look at them. Bookmarks: I read in bed most nights & a bookmark is a reminder of my friends; most of all, it makes me feel like the whole group is with me when I'm reading while the Remicade runs into my vein. There is a beautiful plaque (hand made by Christy) hanging in my kitchen where I see it every time I sit down to eat. Cards: I save all of them; haven't done anything with them yet, but I'll think of a special way to save them. Jane, I still use the bath gloves. Baskets & little " pretty things " are all around our house, & are constant reminders that I'm not alone in this. Some gifts have cost more than you should have spent; some didn't cost much; all are special to me. I hope I have lifted other members' spirits occasionally with gifts.

Sorry to go on, but I felt I needed to say it.

Hugs,

OK.....Seems we're having a problem with our SS Program....Please, please when you get something from your Secret Sender post a thank you to the list so they know you got whatever they sent you.

On the other hand, if you haven't sent anything to your secret sender, let me know so we can help get something out for you....Remember, even an ecard is fine as your gift or a regular card thru the mail....It doesn't have to be something store bought....Your Secret Sender will appreciate anything....This program is just to make someone smile each month, so you don't have to go out and buy expensive gifts......Pam

I agree. I've never gotten anything, large or small that didn't lift my spirits. I have everything around somewhere in my house and know exactly who got me each thing. On down days it's nice to see them.

Mostly I've relied on online services to send my gifts out because of not being able to drive to the post office, and it is usually closed until Denny is home from work. But now I can get to the post office so my person might even get some homemade stuff....who knows, LOL.

At any rate...the money part doesn't matter, we're in all different financial and health states and we all do what we can.

Hugs,

Kathy

Christy,

What I get from giving to my SS is a whole other story. I think & search & wonder what I can send that will be just right; then I find it! It feels so good to know I finally found what I want that person to have from me. You're right, my heart goes into the box. And then, I wonder if they'll really like it; until, I get a thank you & know that it got there & they like it. Just think how much of each of us is spread all around the country.

Re: Secret Sender Program

Thanks , that was so important and you're right... it needed to be said! I'm kinda the other way around. I enjoy getting the card and goodies but I love to send things. I feel like I put my heart into the box when I send it and I always try to send something homemade at least once (I haven't been so creative lately but I'll bounce back soon enough!) and I just get a peaceful feeling when I know I'm working on something that will bring joy to someone else. I also like the feeling that a part of me will live on in that person's home when I'm gone and that I'll be leaving some wonderful memories behind with those I care so much about.

So, this SS program is working wonders on both sides: the senders and the receivers. Let's all make sure we appreciate it and keep it going. I hate to hear that someone is disappointed that they haven't heard from their pal or that so much effort has gone into something and it wasn't acknowledged by the receiver. Let's remember the feelings that go into these treasures and respond quickly!

Thanks everyone who's a part of this program! You really are a Special Sender ... it should have been Special Senders instead of Secret Senders, huh? hehe

And thank you Pam for dealing with everything: signing everyone up, matching people, listening to complaints and handling the special cases! You are greatly appreciated!
