Dopey Elf

One day a dopey elf wanted to join Santa's crew. Santa was skeptical, but looked him over and decided to give him a chance.

"I will give you three questions," said Santa. "If you comeback in a week and can answer them all correctly, you're on

the team."

"Fair enough!" agreed the elf eagerly.xSanta proceeded, "Here are your questions: First, how manydays are there in a week that start with the letter 'T'? Second, how many seconds are there in a year? And third, how many D's are there in the song 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?'"

The next week, the dopey elf came back, feeling all confident that he knew the right answers. So again Santa said, "So how many days in the week that start with 'T'?"

The elf answered, "Two!"

"Very good!" said Santa. And what are they?"

The dopey elf proudly answered, "Today and Tomorrow!"

"Hmm... Okay... " said Santa. "How many seconds are there in a year?"

The dopey elf proudly answered, "Twelve!"

Santa was perplexed. Santa said, "Twelve? How did you come

up with twelve?"

The dopey elf proudly answered, "Well, there's the second of January, the second of February, the second of..."

"Um.. Okay..." interrupted Santa. "How many D's in 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?'"

"Oh, that's easy!" laughed the dopey elf. "Three hundred

and sixty-five!"

"WHAT?" cried Santa. "How did you get that figure?"

To which the dopey elf immediately started to sing,

"dee dee, dee-dee-dee, dee-dee...."

Seeing Red

Many times children become more traumatized than necessary when they see the blood from a small scrape or cut they just got. To minimize this event, simply use a red or dark colored washcloth when cleaning the wound so they won't become as alarmed at the sight.
