The internal medicine doc I see put me on diuretics more than a week

ago. I have pitting edema in my shins. She doesn't believe that my

kidneys are at fault, but I do the tests for it tomorrow anyway.

Even the water pills don't help much. They work for about 2 hours

and then I start building up even more water. The pitting hasn't

gone away...but doesn't cover as much area as it did before the

medicine. I don't eat a lot of salt or salty foods. I've retained

water off and on for years, but the pitting in my shins started when

my lupus really kicked into gear last spring. I gave up on any anti-

inflammories until they get an answer as to what is happening.

Actually some days morphine would be nice but for now it's heating

pads and warm baths. The doc thinks I'm just one of those people

that build up water, only I've talked to a lot of people with lupus

that have the same problem. I'm lucky though...mine doesn't effect

my feet yet. Just arms, hands, knees and shins mostly. If you come

up with a solution let me know.

that works on me.. but so far there are none on the market that helps

me... I will keep you informed on what the doctors say about it. I

know my pain doctor did not call back. So I don't know if she got the

call or not... She has me coming in every 2 months. I don't like

that.. When I'm hurting I want to see more often than that. But she

is the doctor. and So far she has been good to me. Carol
