My doctor first used the term " bicornuate " , then " heart-shaped " . I had never heard of it either. I now know that many doctors use those terms interchangably. I had more U/S done and an HSG ( " dye test " ), but it wasn't until I had a lap/hyst that it was confirmed that I had a septate uterus. The septum was removed at the same time. That was in 99. I had a son in 00 and this year gave birth to a little girl :-) When I first found out my world came crashing down. I thought I would never carry to term. But here I am now. The lap/hyst was one of the best things I ever did. BTW, while I was going through all the tests they never told me NOT to get pg, but I didn't want to risk it. Some studies say that the m/c risk with SU is up to 80%. With BU your chances are much better, but you'll need the lap/hyst (or maybe an MRI) to find out what you have. I know that all you want to do right now is to get pg again, but for me it was really important to wait and get everything straightened out first. Take care and good luck Heike SU resected mommy to (3) and Fiona (8 months)
