One scene from a movie - There was a comedy starring Gene Wilder, set in a

spooky English mansion, with a cast of other comedians. One of these was Dom

Dee, who dressed up as a woman for the part. In this one scene, he/she

comes down the stairs like Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, pauses

dramatically, and in a high falsetto, declares, " This house is CURSED. " My

husband started laughing his head off and elbowed me, hissing, " It's your mom! "

Thinking about it, Norma Desmond is another character who reminds me of my Nada.

Always the drama, always the star. I'm not sure if that makes me

Holden, the chauffeur, or the chimp.

Manque - OMG, every time I find myself becoming overcontrolling or hovering to

my teenaged son, one or the other of us will say, " Come back in Mama's bedroom

and let me brush your hair " like Kathy Bates in The Waterboy. She was

priceless. And the whole fake-coma thing was SO my Nada!

" I think we've talked about this before, but what metaphors help lighten your

> > load? "

This one keeps making me laugh.

I am trying to write a novel with BPD characters, and I'm at the stage where

it's time to clean up the opening and put in real stuff that I didn't have time

to research before, such as police radio dialogue.

My story has a BP threatening suicide with a gun, and I had to ask how that

would come over across the police radio. My cop answered back with this line:

" Unit 125, respond to 1710 Stockton in reference to an armed mental party. "

That line is just priceless. So now, after a short prologue, you will turn to

Chapter One and read its title: " Armed Mental Party. "

I mean, is that the greatest description of BPD you've ever read???

*falling over laughing*
