Guest guest
I haven't personally had them, but I have had many patients over the years with them--and hope I never have to deal with them personally. As far as I've been able to determine there really is no way to cope with them without pain--of course we had patients doing medicated sitz baths etc, but that wasn't exactly comfortable either since the water makes them hurt. And of course with as active as your Crohn's is you just can't get away without pain. They weren't using the botox yet when I was still working--well, at least not for that. But I'm sure that would help--well, in theory I'm sure, never having had a patient that had it. Hope you feel better soon! Hope they get that Crohn's under better control for you, too. (((hugs))) and I'll be thinking of you. Kathy Re: Fonda and all Dear Dawn, The taxes get you every time even in Australia! I'm off to hospital tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it (strange as that may seem). I've had at least one, possibly more, fissures in my anus for the last month. It is revoltingly painful to go to the toilet - and with my crohns that's at least 6-8 times a day! I'm on medication and creams but they don't seem to be doing much. Tomorrow they are giving me a general anesthetic so they can get a proper look at my anus. It is too painful for me for them to look without the anaesthetic. The surgeon is then suggesting I go to a bigger hospital in Sydney for another operation where they put botox into the fissures to help the healing process. Because of my bowel control problem with the crohns they don't want to treat them in the normal way because I would then have even more problems. Has anyone else had these fissures? Any suggestions for how to cope? Has anyone else had this botox injection treatment for them? (((Hugs))) Robyn"D. Dale" wrote: Thanks for the well wishes Robyn! Guest guest
Thanks Dawn, Yes, we've tried all the creams and gels etc. but with no success. I'll just be grateful to be able to go to the toilet again without major pain for hours afterwards. To think that I used to complain about having to go to the toilet 6 times a day with my Crohns - I'd be grateful just for that problem right now!!! (((Hugs))) Robyn"D. Guest guest
Thanks , I had them in pregnancy too but they were nothing like this. I was thinking you may have had them with your Crohns and could have given me advice. Oh well, I'm just glad you haven't had them because they are a side effect of Crohns, I believe. (((Hugs))) Robyn wrote: Robyn, Ouch! It sounds horribly painful. I haven't had to deal with fissures (yet), but I had a fistula & abscess while I was pregnant & it was bad.
