Hi everyone. I just wanted to update you on my progress, or lack thereof.

After five failed Clomid cycles and three failed IUI's, we are moving on to

injectibles. We will try two injectible/IUI cycles and then begin the

adoption process in April. AF finally came today with a vengeance. I'm

doubled over in pain. This was our " month off " to let my ovarian cysts die

down. I didn't think I'd ovulate on my own, but I actually did. It was

quite a surprise. And although we timed intercourse perfectly, we were

unable to achieve pregnancy. So, tomorrow morning I go in for b/w and u/s

to make sure the cysts are gone. And if all appears well, I will begin the

injections tomorrow evening. I'm nervous. I'll be on 1/2 an ampule of

Gonal-F per day. Can anyone tell me the side effects of this drug or

similar drugs (Follistim, etc.)? I was told to ice the injection site prior

to and after jabbing myself. Does anyone have any other advice? Please

pray for us!

Hi Kathy

Glad you liked the responses - I was thinking the same thing about

getting them late!!! My situation with the IVF is a little

different - last time I was on 3 amps of Follistim and the lupron -

I was crabby, tired and my ovaries felt HUGE. This time I am on less

lupron, and 4 amps follistim plus 2 pergonal. Basically, lupron is

menopause and follistim or Gonal-F is super period. Half an amp

shouldn't be too bad - definately ice before and after - we got an

icing pad like the kind you use on your back for my stomach - we

found that is the best place. Also with just half an amp - ask if

you can have the 28 gauge needles - those are the easiest, you don't

feel it as much.

Good luck!
