We got some really good news today on my son.....14 weeks ago when he started his Hep C treatments his viral count was over 7 million....He has one of the hardest types of Hep C to treat.....After 14 weeks his viral count is at 960.....Yep 960....Can you believe it.....This is wonderful.....They will test him again after several more weeks....The anemia is really showing in him.....He is so tired all the time.....They are suppose to give him something for that......Here is a recent picture of my son with his son.....Even without his hair, he is still a handsome man.....He started to lose his hair so he shaved the rest of it off......After just getting his Harley, he likes the bald look now.....LOL.....I don't care if he's bald, just so he's alive.....Thank y'all so much for all the prayers.....They do work.....

So glad to hear it! The big trick is to have it stay down after the full treatment is over. We find out next month if Denny has been able to do that for the first three months after treatment. In the past he's been a relapser. BUT, the good news is that when the viral load goes down the liver at least isn't being as damaged (or in the case of zero, no new damage). At the end of treatment Denny was at zero--he's been there before but we're hoping this time it stays there.

Your son looks good shaved! Denny had some thinning, but nothing major and it is starting to get a little thicker again.

I'm trying to remember and I'm thinking that at least 50% stay clear. Denny has been a relapser, but the treatment has improved, so we're hoping that right now he won't relapse. They are, of course, never cured. The little buggers (hep c viruses, LOL) hide out and can come back at any time. Once they get him clear your son should do his best to keep his immune system working well because when your immunity is depressed (colds, flus, etc) it gives the Hep C a chance to flare up. I was trying to remember how many cycles of meds Denny has done since 1995 and can't remember for sure. I know he did one or two cycles of just the interferon--before they used the ribivirin. Then he's done ribivirin at least three times. So I'm thinking he usually gets about a year or two free before another round of meds. He hates them, of course, but I'd rather have him around for longer.

Thanks for the info Kathy.....Like you, I'd rather have my son living and going thru treatments than the other alternative.....Children aren't suppose to die before their parents and I don't want to bury another one....
