Guest guest
Ken; The "scientific" experiment that elementary school teachers love to do with a class of 6 / 7 year olds is to ask someone to bring in a tooth that they have lost (baby teeth) and put it in a glass of coke. In quite a short time there is NO tooth! Puts lots of kids off drinking cola products!!! <grin> Jean PS ... How you do, Spock? Guest guest
I thought years ago after a test with a nail in coke after some time dissolving, what is it doing to our stomachs but after checking it out, coke has nothing over our stomach acids. Not only coke but even milk can decay a baby's tooth. This is why it is not a good idea to let a baby go to bed with a bottle or put coke/Kool-Aid in a bottle. I also remember back in the "old days" when cars did not have good windshield defoggers, pouring a bottle of coke on the windshield to see more clearly. After Hurricane Hugo, many people learned or relearned old time remedies. Darlene

Guest guest
Mon, Like you, I was a big soda drinker, probably 2-4 liters per day. I drank Caffine Free Diet Pepsi. Of course immeadiate post-op I was drinking water, water, and more water. Now, post-op 110 days, I've began to bring in soda a little at a time. Some GB folks can drink it straight from the can, I prefer to pour mine into a plastic cup, freeze it for about an hour then drink or munch. Doing this seems to take away the carbonation and makes it easier on my pouch. I don't drink it everyday and when I do its usually no more than 8-10oz over 20-30 minutes. I tried Mountain Dew (regular, not diet) and got a little nauseous so I'm staying with diet soda. So, with soda's, if you can't live without it, I suggest BABY STEPS! -Ray > I was a big time coke drinker too. i drank caffeine free diet coke, but eventually i switched to diet coke because i stopped drinking coffee because it hurt my stomach and tea didnt have enuf caffeine for me. > > After the surgery I couldnt drink coke. So i essentially stopped drinking coke since March 14 ( the day beforethe surgery) and I havent had a coke since. For myself I know I dont want to go back there not even a little, because im actually fine without it. I dont miss it, and I have more energy now so i dont need it. > > i didnt ever think I would **ever** be able to live without coke, but I can. and I also didnt ever think Id rave about ground turkey either ( it makes my friends chuckle) but I do. And I can cross my legs, and I dont have those awful leg cramps that woke me out of sleep in the middle of the night ( like a charlie horse) not even a one since the surgery. > > so just my 2 cents >
Guest guest
Gang, Maybe I am the one that baffles the doctors. I started drinking diet soda about 2 months post op. Now I to have a soda with every meal or the food will not digest. There are also times I need to have a spoonful of sugar to help digest my meal.
