You're right. The article did say that the Feds did free up some of the bank

accounts so that payroll checks that had already been cut would clear the

bank.

But, in fairness to (who from what I read seemed to be empathetic if

not sympathetic), the article did not say that all accounts were unfrozen,

nor did it say that future payroll checks would be covered, and it did state

that the company was apparently having trouble meeting other financial

obligations, incuding employee health insurance, personal property taxes and

aircraft expenses.

Is it a non-story or not? Only time will tell. Are there good folks who will

be negatively impacted by this, you bet. For those folks, I belive

(and the rest of us on this list) wish the best of luck as they go through

the stress caused by this event. No one ever wants to see bad things happen

to our colleagues.

I didn't mean to sound like I was on the defensive at all, I just look on my

e-mail and see that " GoldStar " is in almost every subject box, even when it

doesn't pertain to them. I, as well as all the employees and families do

appreciate all the well wishes and prayers, as we all need them daily at any job

that we have. I can only hope that people don't want bad things to happen to

good people, there are just times that's how it seems to be. Have a wonderful

weekend to all and be safe.

I haven't seen that at all. What I've seen is a great deal of

speculation regarding the future of the company, and concern for the

employees. What is happening with GoldStar is one of the biggest

things to happen to EMS at any time in our checkered history, so it

is natural for people to pay attention, talk and speculate. But I

don't think you need worry for even a moment that any of us are

wishing harm to the individual employees.

However, as far as the company, owners and officers are concerned,

the allegations are serious and I personally hope that, if proven

true, the culprits lose everything they've got and spend a little

vacation time at the crossbar Hilton. Until proof surfaces, however,

they are innocent.

It is very disturbing to me, with all of the REAL issues facing EMS in

Texas, such as the Scope of Practice, substandard pay/benefits etc, etc,

etc, that we focus on such trivial issues and make ridiculous statements

such as this:

" What is happening with GoldStar is one of the biggest things to happen to

EMS at any time in our checkered history "

Maybe if we spend our time on actually trying to address issues and find

solutions our PROFESSION would actually excel in the eyes of the Healthcare

industry and our peers.

I agree with you on the importance of the other issues such as the SOP and pay,

but face the music, the " trivial " Gold Star story is just as important to me and

to several others out there.

Until recently, raid plus one, I worked there and I still have some great

friends that still do. This is a recent news story that involves alot of people

in this great state of our's. Many people's lives, and the lives of their

family's will be impacted by the way this story plays out. So please don't

fault us for wanting to talk about it. Sharing is good, keeping it bottled up

inside is bad.

Oh, its not the first EMS company in Texas. Look up the truth before making

wild statement. There are several, and I mean more than 3, whom have

received prison time and fines from the feds. Its on the Attorney Generals

website

I don't think that Body Armor & Guns are trivial! I trust that the owners

and managers don't think so either and have hired attorneys. Gold Star just

happened to be the first EMS firm in Texas to be investigated by the Fed's,

and I assure that they won't be the last. And yes Lee we do need to be

concerned about other issues in EMS, however; as long the Fed's have

problems with EMS billing practices it makes us all look bad, especially in

the eyes of the healthcare industry. As long as we look bad, things like

pay/benefits, education, scope of practice, etc. will be low on the totem

poll.
