We also use Milk of Magnesia, but I don't know if thats okay for littlies, the only problem i find with this stuff is it can be a bit severe at the recommended dose so i only give a half dose. Good Luck! Jeni

Guest guest
Most over the counter stuff will say " do not give to children under 2 " ..... or will say to ask your doctor. That's kind of the standard disclaimer. I'm sure there are things it will be OK to give her. Milk of Mag probably is OK if you call the doc first and get some advice on how much. The reason MOM works is the fact that it is basically a magnesium supplement....... and magnesium works wonders for constipation! Many of us supplement with other forms of plain magnesium (powder or capsules that you open and add to food or formula) along with calcium. There are also little glycerin suppositories (over the counter) that you can use with babies..... but probably best for only occasional use. They do work fast, too. Patti, mom to Katera Another question from the newbie.... my daughter is only 11 mo and is having severe constipation. She hasn't gone in almost a week. The book recommended stuff that says do NOT give to children under 2. Anyone with little-little ones on the diet with some advice? Thanks, she seems to be in extreme discomfort
Guest guest
Yes, it is very painful and can be dangerous. I also found that it could even cause seizures. Try suppositories or enemas at half strength. Give massage gently and movement in different positions. Use milk of magnesia. Give a little more water. Try psyllium husks with water. Call your doctor.
