Guest guest
Congratulations I am glad all went well. And your husband is right he shouldn't have had to get them, but honestly hearing loss is not all that bad. Don't allow yourself to get overwhelmed -- it is too easy to do!! My son is 2 years old, and has a profound hearing loss. He has been aided for 11 months. My husband had a real hard time with it all at first. I think he assumed it would just go away like it wasn't really a problem -- DENIAL!!!! And the hearing aids look real big at first but you get used to them. After a while you won't even think of it. How old is ? I know I have read how old but can't remember. My son was aided at about 19 months. He kept them in really well for the first month and then decided that he was going to run the show. So we struggled a bit. And then a month after he turned two, he just started to wear them whenever I put them in. Well anyway, I am glad everything went well today, and if you have any questions, you can write me directly at monisboys@.... Yesterday Went Well Yesterday got his hearing aids and we saw the ENT. I am so proud of . What a trooper. He didn't cry when they programed the aids, he didn't cry when they put him on and he hasn't tried to take them off. He will ask me to take them off, but doesn't fuss when I say not yet. He wore them all morning while we worked in the garden. He was asking me what sounds were and telling me what he could hear again. We are going to take a break this afternoon. We'll put them on for a while tonight, too. I'm proud of myself, too. No tears!! They really aren't that noticable. The molds are clear and the aid behind the ear is tan...almost matches his hair. I'm still upset that this has happened. We are getting the blood drawn next week. The ENT sent a form so they know what to do and not to do. Then local ENT was asking for things that weren't necessary. We are also getting a CT. Daddy was VERY quiet through the whole thing. All he said was that he didn't like them and that shouldn't have them (meaning he was born with hearing and why did this happen). He does not like to talk about his emotions...gee...is he a guy!?? LOL But he did give lots of smoochies and snuggles last night. So sweet. When we went to show Nanee and Papa (my parents) the first thing my Mom said to me was... " There so big...why can't they just do those little things in the ear. " Thanks Mom!! LOL I didn't realize all the care that goes into these things! The batteries only last 10 days, the cleaning the dehumidifing. Whew! I was on overload with instructions. But I love where we are going now. It's a pediatric ENT unit about an hour from my house. Not too bad. They had heard of this group and were glad I joined...as am I!! Thanks again for your support. I'm sure some new questions will be popping up here soon. Just wanted to let you know how it went. All messages posted to this list are private and confidential.
