Guest guest
My child did the detoxigenomic profile and they found her liver/kidney form of the gene (meaning the one manufactured to be used in the liver and kidney tissues) missing on both copies, and the brain form present. I am guessing in people missing the liver kidney gene detox is more/very dependent on consumption of antioxidant and other natural " chelators " or natural antioxidants like Vit C, Vit E, selenium, anthocyanins, etc... whereas the gluathione-present people are the ones who can work in chemical plants or smoke for 80 years and live a long healthy life. I like to think of it as that these folks with the liver/kidney gene are blessed with extra protection, whereas those without need to be more careful with exposure and diet. Also, it's possible the brain form of the gene may be expressed in the liver somewhat but just not much, so the existing gene for brain tissue may be turned on in liver/kidney just not as efficiently, and vice versa. Finally, it's possible the liver/kidney form complexes with brain forms to do special removal/ extra removal, but these complexes are not possible if you lack one form. I agree that test is very short on info, and the company is pathetically unwilling to talk to consumers who paid a lot for it to make sense of the data. They hide behind you calling your doctor pathetically, like our doctor has time or is willing to do it for free (not!). This test raised as many questions as it answered. Amy Yasko's test for glutathione and other detox genes will be available in 4-6 mo and we will probably take it to check the info in it and get more answers on autismanswer site. I'm not sure we got a lot out of taking this test on the whole, since Andy Cutler has said chelation can proceed without it.
