Guest guest
I almost forgot........when I was first diagnosed the dosc up here cancelled my ERCP because my enzymes were so high they were afraid it would make it worse. The docs here sent me to ton SC to MUSC, Dr. Cotton a month later. When I got there, my enzyme levels were triple what they were here! It scared me because of what I had been told. Dr. Cotton told me right then and there to " forget those numbers. " It did not scare him and it shouldn't scare me! Now thats a doc who knows what he is doing! I think the problem with the ERCPs is that the docs are not good at doing them. The less manipulation of that bile duct the better. Someone told me that Dr. Cotton could get in and do an ERCP, inject dye into the duct, etc, etc withouth touching the sides of the duct! That's good. An ERCP should not take very long. If the doc is in their very long " banging around " it becomes dangerous. My aunt had an ERCP up here in NC for some reason or another and they kept her in there almost three hours banging around! They finally said they could not get in the duct, sent her to MUSC in ton SC. Dr. Cotton went in, absolutely nothing wrong and had no trouble getting in that duct! ERCP is a " skill " that most of these GI docs don't have and are causing patients to get worse! A couple of weeks ago, my GI doc here in NC asked me if when they put the stent in do they have to replace it does it get clogged? She didn't even know that you can't keep them forever! This is a GI doc! Very scary! Ta,ta! Kaye
