Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just joined the list about a month ago. I think I am feeling kind of down today and just want to vent some of my questions here. I won't repost my whole story, but just a quick recap...24 year old with a complete septate uterus. Had the lap/hyst and decided to leave septum as is for now....have not ttc as of yet. Okay, so here is my 1st question...Is it possible for a SU to cause painful periods? I just had surgery to remove endo which we thought was the cause for the pain, but I'm on my 2nd cycle now since the surgery and AF is just as painful as ever. I have such terrible cramping, and spotting in between. I go back to my dr. in Feb. but I'm wondering if the septate can even cause those problems or maybe I'm just a baby...I'm just frustrated. And my next question...is there anyone out there who has SU (w/ out removing it) and has had a successful pregnancy? My dh and I are starting to discuss TTC and I am just getting so nervous even thinking about it. After my surgery I felt so lucky that my dr. thought my blood flow was so good that pregnancy with septate might actually work for me, but I've heard so many horror stories that now I'm wondering if the wrong decision was made. Just thinking if there are some of you out there with SU still in place and have had children successfully maybe that will give me some encouragement. Thanks for " listening " in advance. Just needed to vent for a minute and this seems to be the place to do it. Keli 24, Complete SU
Guest guest
Hi Keli, I too have a complete SU. I have had MONSTER cramps since, well, for ever. I also have a tilted uterus, and as a teenager was told that is why I have such bad cramps. Maybe. Like you, my RE felt that the cramps were due to Endo. I had a lap/hyst last May to dx my BU or SU (its SU) and to remove the endo. Turns out I had only very mild endo, but hoped it would help with the cramps. It didn't. Without mediation, after the surgery, my cramps remained terrible, such that I can't work, vomit, etc. etc. Bad. So, I too have wondered if the SU could be the culprit in my cramps. My RE didn't suggest that, but I wonder if MA women do suffer more from cramps than others? I wouldn't be surprised, but hope other women comment on your post ... maybe we need a poll? There are several women on this site you have had successful pregnancies with the septum. I have a good friend who has had two normal pregnancies and no miscarriages with a complete septum. That said, most would probably recommend the surgery as a precaution, as many SU women do have repeated miscarriages. I am 16 weeks pregnant - I've posted my story/up-date over the past couple of weeks, so I won't repeat it here. Good luck, a 35 SU 16 wks -
