---In the morning, have phase 1 foods for breakfast, concentrating on

not overeating, just have 'enough'. Drink alot of water tomorrow, eat

salads and lean meats. Exercise and learn from your ooops. No pizza

comes in this house, I can't handle it now.

Post what you are eating each part of the day, we will be watching

and waiting. You may need a few days of being good to undo your pizza

indulgence, but you have lots of time; just be xtra good for a few days

I had the same problem this week with totm and pizza. I just flushed my system the next day and drank extra water. To make matters worse I had probably already taken in over 2000 calories in phase 1 and 2 foods because I just couldn't stop myself. I bounced back okay and haven't had too many problems since... cravings here and there but I am dealing with it and I seem to be down 2 pounds for the week after a stall for 2 weeks so I guess it didn't hurt me toooo badly other than upsetting my stomach and making me feel lousy. Next month I think I am going to be prepared with extra SB compliant foods on hand. I would rather have treats on hand that are sugar free than do that again. Since I don't normally crave sweets through the month, I don't keep the puddings or fudge pops on hand.

Well so far I drank 88 ounces of water (going to the bathroom every

5 minutes now) and i exercised for 10 minutes. do you think that

would reverse it? yeah no pizza is going to come in this house

anymore either. i just can't take it. if i gained a pound i'm going

to definitely go and try the first day of phase 1 and that's it.

what a stupid mistake. i was doing so well too.

i hope it doesn't put a stall on my weight but if it does it's my

own fault and another day of phase 1 shouldn't hurt. were you

stalling in your weight loss because you " cheated " as well or did

you still lose weight after that almost right away? i didn't have

these problems when i had the south beach bars on hand but i don't

want to go back to that at all. that's just awful too. i'm going to

go on the straight and narrow. this is the first time i cheated like

this in over a month so i guess i should proud that i lasted this

long. i'm definitely going to be drinking a lot more water next few

days that's for sure. thanks for the support everyone it means a lot

to me!

I with you ! I ate that McD's last night and just feel like sh*t

about it. I hate when I cheat because I too know that it's only

hurting me, not anyone else. And I forgot to mention the beer I had at

the hockey game last night too :( It just tasted SO GOOD!

--- ,

I weighed in w/ no weight loss this week. What will I do: panic?

change to a different diet? comfort/stress eat?..nah, I will be a

mature individual who realizes that lose, gain, draw, its all about

what I stick in my mouth and why I am choosing that food. Is it whats

good for my body's health, for my choice of weight loss.

I really think that if anyone is 'panicking' they are not in control

of their blood sugar levels. I am trying to examine the science behind

phase 1/Induction. Its designed to get your bs levels, well, level for

a long enough period that your brain no longer nags at you to feed it

carbs to balance that seesaw of a insulin/glucose reaction. Once your

levels are...well ...level, those 'voices' should be gone. If they are

NOT, then does that mean your bs levels are not well, level as they

need to be to eliminate cravings??. It is afterall the 'cornerstone'

of both Atkins Induction and SB Phase 1. If cravings are still

present, then perhaps its due to higher quantity of lower level carbs

(too large of portions of allowed carbs?, or hidden sugars?, or

sneaking " oh i forgot about that snack " slipped in and threw them off?

I would love to see a 'study' done on people who still crave and cave

after Phase 1, esp the 'excuse' of 'monthly 'need' to cheat. Whats

going on really. Is it in the blood or in the brain?

Once a craving hits and is given in to, I believe, the whole

insulin/glucose action/reaction starts, and down the slippery slope we

go. At least thats how the story went every time I dieted in the past.

Now, I operate under the premise that if I were to eat something high

carb, or sugary, it better be a sm amount, with fat and protein, and

then re examine my 'motives' asking " Do I want more food, if so, why.

Am I hungry? bored?, thirsty?, stressed?. I will look at when I last

ate, am I due for a meal? If not, I will munch on a slice of ham or

turkey and cheese, and wait, still hungry, I will eat a yogurt. Then

wait. Still hungry? I doubt it, its meal time, or bed time. Drink

water, brush teeth, go to bed, pat my head...good girl.

Once blood sugar levels are in check, its about being a grown up.

If you want pizza. Make a burger/sausage crust, put the tomato sauce,

spices, cheese, pepperoni, olives, what ever you want on it, eat it.

DONE, and done well. There isn't any food you might want, that you

cannot find something that will takes its place for a craving. But you

have to be prepared. Make SF Jello, don't buy danger foods. Don't go

out to buffets, nor fav restaurants.

We went out for breakfast the other day. I had bacon and eggs,

dry wheat toast. I took splenda for my coffee, hubby had a ham/cheese

omelet. I only ate 1 sl of the toast, didn't eat the 2nd yolk, and

left a bite. Hubby left part of his, as it was big. We had a couple

coffees and left the restaurant feeling 'normal'.

Very much like smoking, after you quit, you choose to buy/light,

inhale. Same w/ ______ fill in the blank snack.

Its breakfast time, Steel cut oats, a piece of lean sausage and sf

maple syrup. Lunch will be, Taco salad w/ salsa and guacamole, dinner

is still in the air. Probably chicken breast w/ a veggie. I need to

get a couple servings of dairy in there (cheese, milk, yogurt) and a

couple fruits, (apple, apricots, banana, froz blueberries or

cherries?) and, I can have a serving of nuts, or some jello. There is

alot I can eat, if I choose to.

Good Luck and have a positive day.

Hi ...

What has worked for me is to find similar foods done

healthy that way you will never crave the real deal..

Recently I had someone wanting to purchase a

cheesecake for me as thanks for something I did for

them.. I told them very nicely that please no food

gifts since I am very careful with what I eat..

Obviously this person had no idea I eat my own

cheesecake muffins that I make and have no desire for

cheesecake because of it.. I also top my muffin with

some strawberries and no fat Redi Whip..

I love the Pizza recipe I posted.. to me it is way

better than the real deal.. because when you eat the

real deal what you are injesting is mostly the

bread!!!! The toppings are what tastes best to me... I

also sprinkle some red hot peppers on my piece and eat

it with a nice tossed salad...

Good luck girl..

Wishing you the best in your journey

Hi Carol...

Lean how to make your own healthy burgers with some no

fat cheese.. if on Phase 2 wrap this in a Whole Wheat

Tortilla with some lettuce...

There is nothing available out there to eat that we

cannot make healthy..

If you need to have a drink on occasion have a wine

sprizter made with half dry wine and half club soda..

--- If you CHOOSE to have a beer, have Mich Ultra, it tastes good, and

is only 3.2 carbs. Nurse one and be done. Then you wont be deprived,

will have felt normal having a beer out, and it would not mess w/ your

meal plan. Have one, and be done But not now, You need to go back to

phase 1, get yourself under control, its only chemistry! Make your

weeks meal plans and get that crave critter off your back.

Okay I must say this is a very good theory.. and I do

like most of it... GGG

However it only addresses the physical cravings.. What

we forget at times is the mental addiction.. For that

reason I like to see a much more gradual progression

into Phase 2.. Like only adding a fruit or two a day

and nothing else.. for at least a month..

I certainly do not think this has to do with the

amount of good carbs at all, since I have no cravings

and eat a very high carb diet..

Good carbs will not cause cravings..

i cheated today too, although my reason was almost literally a matter of life or

death.**

but i don't think you should punish yourself so much - in my observation of

people on diets (all diets), that sort of thing gets you on a tough downer cycle

tied to your eating instead of a positive upswing because you're feeling

healthier.

if you enjoyed the pizza, take the pizza recipe and try it - see if that'll work

for the TOTM cravings next time. if not, do a little recipe research and see if

you can come up with something that does.

don't worry about any weight gain this week - there's the possibility that some

of it is your digestion taking time to relearn what this thing is you've eaten,

and how to go about processing it. if you're heavier it's not a huge deal.

now, if you weigh on friday mornings, ignore all the content of the previous

sentence ;)

~risa

** ( i had to do a marathon drive - drove from before 9 pm last night to 9:30

this morning with 1) not enough sleep the night before 2) only 4

bathroom/convenience store/dogwalking breaks and 3) loads of caffeinated

thingies.

i ended up having to take a 40-minute " if you don't get a tiny amount of sleep

you're going to kill yourself and your dog on the road " rest stop. i'd been

trying caffeine and sublingual guarana to keep me awake, or singing and leaving

the window down, but nothing was working. when my body wants its sleep it

REALLY wants it. i've only successfully pulled an all-nighter once in my life.

so i realized after the wee nap that i still wouldn't make it as i was going - i

needed some energy and i needed it RIGHT then. my body would use sugar more

effectively to keep me going than the caffeine would.

the bad news is, i'm sure i exceeded 2000 calories with that one carb infusion

alone. the good news is, none of it tasted really *good* to me. it all seemed

pretty gross and synthetic-tasting. i like the phase 2 desserts i make better

than what i had.

now that this long hellride is over, i just made and ate a massive ph. 1 omelet

to replenish the stuff people lose if they don't sleep enough and soon i'll

completely pass out. ;)

Well I'm glad I'm not alone. I feel like crap but all I can do is just

move on and hope that i didn't hurt myself too bad. i haven't weighed

myself because of totm. i'll weight myself after that and see how it

affected me. hopefully by that time all the damage will be undone.
