Kathy, I hope this works for you. It will give you such a sense of satisfaction on two fronts...your pain level will be improved and you will have driven againg. I am hoping you get the best report and results possible from your visit to the chiropractor. It sounds like he did a thorough exam and xrays.

Jane

chiropractor

I just got back from the chiropractor. I hadn't tried that before, except briefly after I had the whiplash injury years ago and the conventional Doc just gave me ibuprofen. It helped then. Anyway, the pain has gotten so bad and so continuous that I had to try something else and this AM I called the chiropractor in town (about 4 miles) and got an appointment. He's the only on in the valley that does muscle work and not just the adjustments.

And he's covered by my insurance.

So--first the really exciting news--I DROVE THE TRUCK THERE! YAY! OK, so there was hardly any traffic and I drove slowly and my concentration sucks, but I made it without having an accident, so I feel good about that. I wouldn't want to drive any distance, or in traffic, but at least I know that if I have to drive I can.

So=--then he took xrays--which believe it or not through all this stuff the only xray done was of my ankle when it was really acting up and the only ct scans or mri's were of my brain. The xray of my back showed some arthritis along either side of my sacrum, but my hips look fine and except for L5 the rest of the lower back looks fairly good, considering. I knew about the L5 problem since Kayly was born and do exercises for it every day for over 30 years now.

The neck was another matter--which I knew it would be because the neck and shoulders are where the worst of my pain is, and it's been unbearable for about a week now. When he showed me the xray it was very apparent why. C3 and C4 are so twisted to the left that they are at almost a 90 degree angle to the rest of the spine, and of course my neck doesn't have the nice curve to it that it's supposed to, it's straight as a stick and the spaces between the vertebrae are irregular and on the left side the lowest cervical vertebrae is all but resting on the bone--can't think of the darn name--not the next vertebrae but the shoulder bone basically.

So he did a good amount of muscle work and then did the adjustments and told me to drink plenty of extra water today to flush out the lactic acid. He told me to expect to be sore tomorrow, that for the first few times it would be alot of hard work. I'm sore already, but the neck isn't bunched up like it was this morning, which means that the nerve up there isn't being impinged on and the actual spasm has released and I can feel the last two fingers on my left hand again, which have been numb.

I go back on Thursday. I'm hopeful about this. I'm just to a point right now that I had to try something different than just more meds all the time. If this doesn't help then I'll be on to something else. I am soooo sick of this crap.

I will. This is a younger guy who has been through chiropractor school more recently and they have made some changes over the years. He's much more gentle than the guy I went to after my accident. But most important of all he does the muscle work first which avoids the damage that can be done if they just crack you while your muscles are still in knots.

He seems really good....does alot of teaching while he's working on you and explains everything and showed me my xrays and all that. We'll see...

me too. I don't think it will be the whole answer, but right now the neck and shoulders have been so bad (the last week or so) that if I didn't do something soon I'd go (more) nuts.
