Guest guest
Here is some interesting info, On the radio today I hear one of those spots where a doctor comes on and talks about recent medical developments. This doc was talking about pain and used a recent article in either Jama or the New England journal of medicine. He said that after getting at the cause of the pain, chronic pain is best treated with opiates (narcotics). He stated that when patients come to him he goes through a whol eries of questions to determine if they are seeking drugs or pain relief. (which in it's self tells us something) . He went on to say that patients who take narcotics for chronic pain have an extremely low incidence of abuse and that the study says that pain killers are actually under prescribed because doctors are afraid of creating addicts. I would like to find a copy of that article, but I'm not sure how to get medical journals. I believe this is not the first such study. Yet, doctors let people suffer in pain because of an unfounded fear they will make junkies. Where's the science. Rob
