Hi Gem,

We all get overwhelmed at times, you are certainly not alone! Mothering

is a tremendous job and even more so when we have children with a

variety of needs. I have written an article, " 5 Things Parents of

Children with Special Needs Should Know, " that may offer some helpful

coping ideas for you. You can read it online here:

http://www.hearingexchange.com/articles/5-things.htm (Folks, please feel

free to print out any of the " a's Pearls " articles I have written

and pass them on if you find them helpful. They are all listed/linked on

the main page of http://www.HearingExchange.com)

Also, if you are interested in the auditory/oral approach for your baby,

you may be interested in contacting the Children's Choice for Hearing

and Talking (CCHAT) school in Sacramento. They have Parent/Infant,

Preschool and Primary programs up until 2nd grade. They also offer 2

different types of parent support group programs. You may want to

inquire if they are available to you even if you decide not to enroll

your daughter. While it appears that they don't have an audiologist on

staff, the school may be helpful to you in recommending local audiologists.

As with many of the oral education programs, CCHAT can assist families

with financial aid for tuition. You can learn more about the program

online here: http://www.oraldeafed.org/schools/cchatsac/index.html

I hope this information has been helpful to you. Hang in there, you're

doing a great job! You're already finding groups and resources to help you.

Good luck with your move.

All the best,

a
