Guest guest
When I make my sweet orange soap I use Howie's orange peels to anchor the scent. Now, when I make lemon soap I use, lemon eo, lemongrass eo and litsea eo. Smells great. Carol Kapochus

Guest guest
I have found that if you hot process your soap it stays better. I love the citrus scents but they do fade badly. I used benzoin to help and also other scents to help hold but the best thing I found is to do crockpot hot process soap. the citrus scent lasts longer And takes less. Guest guest
Someone else could probably give you a better measurement, but I looked up in my notes to be sure and it says .9 oz. citrus eo per pound of fat. Did you mix your eo with a tad bit of castor or something to anchor it? I made an orange/patchouly soap several months ago and used my dried grated orange peel and the scent is still there. Guest guest
Judy, Howie gave you the amount, but you will stil have to " anchor the scent " . Patchouli is an anchor, as is oak moss, benzoin, and orris root. If you are doing cp, try and bring your temps down (if they are not already) to about 85 - 90 degrees. Guest guest
Could you please describe this method? At what stage of hot process is scent added? Email me privately if it would be too redundant to other list members. Thanks marie crockpot hot process > soap. the citrus scent lasts longer And takes less. > DearMeSuds
Guest guest
I will just post to the list as I know that a lot of other people like citrus as well. You just use your favorite soap recipe in your crockpot. Dont fill it with more than half full or you might get boil over. After you are done cooking add in a little water or oil (you hold back a little) to help cool it down a little. Then add scent and glop into molds. My grapefruit soap is one of my best soaps but I could barley smell it in cold process. Join the hot process soap list and get more details on how to do crock pot soap. DEE is an expert on crock pot and will walk you through any problems. hth DearMeSuds

Guest guest
, Not much, LOL, about 1/2 tsp is all. When I use it for my big 12 or 16 lb batches I only use about 2 tbsp. I have never known of anyone having a problem with it. Sherry in Aberdeen Re: Need help with citrus scenting >Sherry, can you tell me how much benzoin to use per lb?
