Guest guest
Hi, I haven't been on the board in a few months, but I wanted to share my updates with you. A brief recap - I had 3 early m/c's before I was diagnosed with BU in June. I was told to TTC. But something was nagging me, and I had a hard time believing the BU dx, so I met with the radiologist to review the MRI. It turned out I am SU, not BU. The next week I found out I was pg. Like , I had thoughts of terminating, but decided to try to go forward. Unfortunately I had some bleeding in August when I was 7 weeks pg, and no heartbeat was seen at 8 weeks. It all ended with a D/C in September. It's been a rough summer. But I have something to look forward to (finally!). I met with a new doctor yesterday (but in the same group as the RE that misdiagnosed my SU) and am scheduled for the septum resection in December. He recommended waiting 3 months after the D/C so my uterus can get back it's regular shape. We talked all about the procedure and I feel pretty comfortable with him. I don't have many choices of REs here in Vermont, so I am glad that I liked him. He said he pioneered the use of hysteroscopes at University of Connecticut Med Center years ago, and has done many septum resections in his career. He does a hysteroscope without a lap, unless he can't see well enough, then he will go ahead and do the lap. No lap means shorter recovery time, which would be nice. He will do a pre-op ultrasound to get more familiar with my uterine structure before surgery. He uses scissors for the resection, no balloon afterwards. 30 days of estrogen, then some progesterone to start AF. I can ttc in March (that seems so far away!). He said he normally does not do any followup, but I am insisting on an HSG or something to make sure that darn septum is gone, and he said ok to that. I had pretty much lost faith in my previous RE after she accepted the incorrect radiology report and told me without question I was BU. She also is on the younger side, so I was not confident in her experience level. So I am feeling much better. Now I just have to wait for AF to appear so I can schedule a surgery date in December that is between CD 1-14, which is what my new RE would prefer. The possible dates are 12/10 or 12/24. It's been 3 weeks since the D/C, so I am hoping AF will show up soon. Thanks again for everyone's help, I don't know what I would have done without this board! Guest guest
Ronna, First of all, I'm so terribly sorry for your losses! Congratulations on a correct dx. I know the feeling, I was told I was BU, and the RE I was referred to accepted that based on an Ultrasound and HSG, no lap or MRI to confirm. The Peri she referred me to did a pelvic exam and said he could " feel " that I was either BU/SU or " arcuate " but that it wasn't severe and I " wouldn't be crazy " to just go home and TTC. ( I had a history of early mc, lost two at between 7 and 8 weeks). Well, as you said you felt wrong with your DX, I KNEW this guy was nuts. I found a new RE. WEll, almost a year later, here I am with a lap/hyst under my belt to confirm that it WAS SU. I also had endometriosis, and my RE said if it had been left, a couple of years from now it could have done serious damage to my ovaries. There are many stories like yours and mine on here. I know it sounds far away, just take it one day at a time knowing that your patience and determination now will pay off later. The way I see it, every test I have now before I get pg, one less thing to worry about being " wrong with me " when I do get pg... Thanks for sharing your story with us!
