Guest guest
Hello everyone, Well I know I'm a little late in writing this. I made it to the other side though. I am at day thirteen now and besides feeling a bit tired still there is no pain. My experience was like everyone elses. I didn't have the morphine drip but I had a demerol drip, My dr. said that thats what he prescribes. He think that the morphine has too many side effects. Anyway I have to admit any slight bit of pain and I clicked the button. I still have no regrets for doing the surgery. My biggest problem has been with my wife. I would page her from downstairs and she would come to the top of the stairs and yell " what " ? and of course I would loose it! Try having a fight with your spouse without being able to talk. I suggest to all that are going in for surgery that you explain to all who will be around you that you will not be able to talk (most likely) and don't ask stupid questions. When I woke up I was tightly wired. But because of the little whole in my palate he unwired me on day 3 and tightly banded me. on day 8 he gave me some cotton grabbers? whatever they call those things that help you put bands on and off. he told me I could eat a pureed diet but no chewing. well day 9 and ever since I would blend food and eat it with my bands off. sometimes keeping the bands off for most of the day. It is so hard to eat without chewing even pureed food. I still catch myself doing the motion of chewing. Today I ate canned beans mashed them as much as I could but ended up chewing alot of it . I so hope that I have not screwed anything up. When I put my bands back on I can hear my jaw snap crackle and pop with any little movement. So I have a question, When do most people with upper and palate expansion get to eat soft foods. I feel fine beside the odd sensation under my nose. I feel all of my face and am numb only around my top gums and teeth. I am wearing a splint also. I feel safe having it because when I'm affraid that I moved my jaw I band it back up into the right position and feel better. Am I just being paranoid or should I really worry about this stuff? Thank to all on this site. I went into surgery pretty prepared because of all of you. thanks again Jerry
