Guest guest
This is a great opportunity to prove that you can do it with South Beach. Keep going and you'll show her how to accomplish weight loss the SAFE way. She's just trying to justify her choice. Done correctly, GB is safe, and for a lot that get it done, a life saving process... Dawn

Guest guest
Dawn, That is awful. I weigh only 4 lbs less than you and if someone suggested that I have gastric bypas surgery, I would be mad and insulted too! 18lbs loss is great and like you said, you were a carb - o- holic (just like me I might add). It really burns me up when people " offer " their advice when in fact they just want to be nosy and pontificate to people. My advice is to ignore them and pat yourself on the back for doing such a great job so far. Continue to post and get encouragement from the people on this board. If you can limit your contact with the nosy busy body at work (hi/bye, how are you type of thing with a smile on your face). You don't need that type of person or people around to surround you with negative energy. Guest guest
Wow, Dawn, that's awful. Was she doing this as a concerned friend or a boss? Don't let this get to you -- you've taken control and you're moving in the right direction. As a nation we're all about the " quick fix " -- gimme a pill or a " procedure " to fix this mess I've gotten myself into. You've taken a far better path to get to your goal of weight-loss -- a HEALTHY path. Stay firm and don't allow yourself to be swayed from this course -- this IS *THE* best way to go. You know it is, you've seen the positive results and you can tell that it's working. Perhaps this was a well-meaning co-worker. Perhaps it was someone in a higher ranking position that sees potential and wants to help you realize that potential. Show them confidence and a sense of self-worth by sticking to your guns and doing it the hard way. Losing weight the South Beach way is not an easy thing. It requires commitment, dedication, willpower, and a form of patience that many lack sorely. Determination, integrity, self-confidence, and an honesty with one's self are also required. Sound like the kinds of qualities you want in an employee? Hang in there.

Guest guest
Dawn!! I feel so bad for you! How thoughtless and rude! I absolutely agree with what others have been saying: stick with what you're doing. Use this as incentive to keep with it for the long haul. You'll have the right to feel superior by knowing you've developed good eating for the rest of your life. Let's see where she is in 5 years. I used to work with a gal whom I would have loved to look like. She's taller than me and solid but I never thought of her as fat. I found out she weighed over 200 and I was stunned. People handle weight differently. And, that's all really beside the point. Even if she thought she was " doing it for your own good " (gag) it was RUDE. We're all upset for you. Believe me. You've done fine - and you should be proud. We're pulling for you. from MN > Hey everyone, I haven't posted much lately only because I've been > busy with work and home life. Guest guest
After reading the post of what that person said to you I also have to say that GB is not all it’s cracked up to be….there have been maybe people that over time do put on the weight again when they over eat and stretch out everything which of course makes it weaker and it tears also people have died from the procedure and many have gotten infections it’s not uncommon….….so it’s not the band aid many think it is…..I have a friend that did it after he tried everything else and he told me the psych stuff he went through before they would approve him for surgery was incredible….I have heard that from many people too….he had to be in therapy before and after it was a big deal to make sure he could handle that I also have a co worked that told me the same thing and she wasn’t in the same state as my friend. I think that person said that to you out of jealousy that you have gotten control of your life and she can’t……keep up the great work and congratulations on the loss…!!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I would like to thank everyone for their great support and kind words of support. I'm feeling better today and have stayed on track. I won't let those comments bother me and yes, I agree, perhaps it was well-meaning or someone who saw potential but I'm still not going to let all this bother me one way or another. I've had a night and day to think about this and I'm moving on. Week 12 is next week and I hope to take off another 2 lbs. I'll be smaller than her in a year - just watch HAHA Thanks again everyone!
