Guest guest
Good Monday morning. Well, today I'm recovering from several hours of yard work yesterday... mowing, raking, weedeating, trimming way too many shrubs, clearing dead leaves/twigs from bedding areas, putting down 10 bags of mulch, sweeping, etc. All the while, hubby was tending to his nature food plots. He had to buy 200+ feet of hose to extend the hoses that we already have in order to get some water on his clover and whatever else he has planted up there. It's going to be a long summer if we don't get some rain. I'm still not sure why it took him over 3 hours to do it. I think he has a hammock hidden on the other side of the woods so that he can kick back while I'm bustin' my butt in the yard! I only came across one baby snake while I was clearing under the shrubs, but hubby seems to think that I 'disturbed' the area too much because we had a bigger one on the porch in the evening after I was finished. He called me out to take a picture of it. Now, this was the very same type of snake, but a smaller one, that I accidently mowed over last year. I didn't kill it, so it got away, but I showed my hubby a picture of one like it... a copperhead, in a snake book. Well, last year he argued with me, saying that we didn't have those here, because "he'd never seen one" down here!!! Well, he got to see one last night when he almost stepped on it going out the door! So, after he kills the thing with a shovel, he wants me to take a picture of it. I take a couple... and he tells me to get a closer up one, but I tell him that the snake is in the shadows and it won't turn out. Then he goes to move the thing to the light, and it flippin' ATTACKS the shovel!! Now, I'm not sure if the kink in my back is from all the yardwork... or from jumping over a wicker chair, flying into the house, and stumbling over a laundry basket in the middle of the living room. I didn't stop running 'til I was up on my bed! Either we're moving to an upper level apartment in town... or I want a gardner! Of course, according to hubby, the snake problem is my fault because I've apparently created the perfect habitat with all the low growing shrubs I landscaped with. Never mind the pile of lumber that he's had sitting out back forever because he hasn't finished the banisters on my patio yet! I'm attaching a picture below. You might have to scroll down a bit to see it. Hugs, Janet... who wore tall boots up to the pasture to feed the horse this morning!
