Guest guest
Carolyn, I also have a daughter whose eating habits go above and beyond being picky. Darby will be 12 at the end of the month and she has never eaten a piece of meat, that wouldn't bother me so much but she also doesn't eat vegetables, pasta, rice, the list goes on. Basically she lives on grains and the few fruits that I force her to eat. She went to camp this summer and for two weeks besides breakfast she ate nothing but rolls and apples, except for the few times they had pizza or grilled cheese. I don't bring food for her when we go places anymore, I figure it's her choice not to eat what there is, but she has to take responsibility for it. Even as an infant Darby had no interest in eating, she refused any type of solid food till she was almost a year, including cereal, and after nursing for a full year ended up having to put her on formula, which she remained on until she was well over three. She had a severe seizure disorder that resulted in frequent hospitalizations, ER visits, lab work, etc., from the time she was 2-4, so that, combined with the progressive hearing loss and the question of other potential problems she might or might not have, made the eating issue seem not important. Her weight is still below the 5th percentile but she is an extremely healthy child, the one good thing I can say is she pretty much drinks nothing but water, she would never drink soda.
