That isn't what is talking about. She's talking about doing

the South Beach Diet, not a diet under a doctor's care, not surgery,

but the South Beach Diet, where the average weight loss for a woman

is 1/2 to 2 lbs per week.

I don't believe *is* 3 or 4 hundred

pounds. We are not talking about life-or-death

in her case. And if we were, we would be wrong

to, as she should be talking to her doctor and

taking his/her advice, not ours. That is the

problem with 'diagnosing and treating' people on

an internet list. We are NOT professionals NOR

experts, and we can't possibly know everything

that comes into play in an individual's situation

that we have never met in person.

Where are your facts, figures, SOURCES? Give us

citations or links so anyone can look up the info

for themselves.

How do you KNOW that I am wrong? Because you

were able to lose weight (and wasn't that before

SBD?)? Because your BF did? Two do not make a

study. Are you a registered or licensed

bariatric anything? Nutritionist? Dietician?

Show me the studies - PROVE me wrong - that say

that kind of weight loss is good for someone who

isn't 3 or 4 hundred pounds or in a life-or-death

situation. Then I will agree with you. Not

until then, though.

Again - the members here should take any of our

NON-professional/NON-expert advice for what it is

worth and do their own research and check with

their own doctor FIRST.

Sorry ...

Had a friend on his WOE and she was eating 1200

calories a day just like you are presently... and she

was losing 20 pounds a month.. So you are grossly

mistaken thinking people on his WOE are eating 500

calories a day..

I think taking a daily vitamin is something everyone

should do.. especially after the age of 50...

As a matter of fact his diet is somewhat similar to

SB.. except he adds fruits in his Phase 1... and his

diet is also a WOE if not all of his patients would

regain their weight over time.

PS anyone eating 500 calories a day would in

fact be in starvation mode and NOT losing weight...

Just repeating what the registered dietician in the article came up

with. She had access to the plan specifics, whereas I do not. The

article says that some people were able to eat more than the plan

allowed, but most were not; perhaps your friend was allowed the

extra?

Are his clinics only in Canada, or are they in the U.S. as well? I

checked WebMD and iVillage (which used to have a nifty diet plan

comparator that I can't find now) and his system is not mentioned on

either site, that I can find. Perhaps it is just not quite common

enough yet.

I do take a daily vitamin - I figure I probably miss *something* in

my diet every day. <G> Vitamin shots, on the other hand, seem a bit

much if you are eating an even semi-healthy diet.

From comments in the forums I've read, I'd say those people disagree

with you. However, I would say around half appear to be unhappy with

the system, whether it was the shots, the cost (it is quite

expensive, according to the posters), the results or lack

thereof.... So take that for what it is worth. Again I don't have

the details of the diet, I haven't done it, and I'm not interested in

doing it. <G>

Hi ann..

Your right I was at 123 pounds for 25 years which was

a good weight for me.. I was very content and held a

highschool figure all my years..

Then started on SB Phase 1 late January of this

year... I was doing a Phase 1 plus some fruit and

actually lost 13 pounds... I only wished to lose 8

though...

I wanted to fit into a certain wedding dress for my

upcoming wedding..

I plan on hopefully going back to my 123 weight when I

am back from my honeymoon and enjoying competing in

some running events again...

Hi ann..

I was not on is diet either 25 years ago.. however I

did have my doctor monitoring my weight loss... and

would suggest it to anyone..

His diet is not a 500 calorie diet.. you cannot have

this both ways..

First some people on the list say someone might be

experiencing a stall because they are not eating

enough and then somehow that gets followed that they

are losing because they are in a starvation mode on a

500 calorie diet? Can we really have this both ways?

I have known more than one person attending his

clinics the first one ate 1200 calories per day and

losing... the second man I knew on his diet was also

most certainly not eating 500 calories a day either..

I do not believe it is like comparing surgical

intervention to a change in eating habits..

Change in eating habits are both of which Berenstein

and South Beach are..

Hi ann..I was not on is diet either 25 years ago.. however Idid have my doctor monitoring my weight loss... andwould suggest it to anyone..His diet is not a 500 calorie diet.. you cannot havethis both ways.. First some people on the list say someone might beexperiencing a stall because they are not eatingenough and then somehow that gets followed that theyare losing because they are in a starvation mode on a500 calorie diet? Can we really have this both ways?I have known more than one person attending hisclinics the first one ate 1200 calories per day andlosing... the second man I knew on his diet was alsomost certainly not eating 500 calories a day either.. I do not believe it is like comparing surgicalintervention to a change in eating habits.. Change in eating habits are both

I have had three kids and never had that loose belly skin and my babies were all large 9, 10, 11 lbs. Never had any sort of injection...........actually I have never even heard of that.

Re: CHF & Weight Gain 2nd Phase - now excessive weight loss

Hi Kay..This unfortunately can happen no matter how fast orslow you lose weight.. We have all been pregnant and Iexperinced some loose belly skin after having my firstchild...One of the many reasons for injections given.. Theyare not only just good at breaking up fat into those areas, but also help aid the skin in shrinking sohopefully you will not need to have excess skinremoved surgically..--- wetbee40 wrote:> > --- Something that has not been mentioned during> this discussion of > unhealthy, unrealistic, rapid weight loss, is the> FACT that when people > lose weight at fast rate, severe dieting/bariatric> surgery, their skin > tone suffers greatly.
