Thanks, Lola, for the congrats! I am very excited! I'll be relieved when

my baby is born - alive! Congratulations to you for deciding to get the

septum resection surgery. I wish I had done it sooner than I did. Yes -

that's how I had it done - just vaginally. It was over in no time and the

recovery was easy. I had pretty mild cramping the rest of the day after

surgery and some bleeding. But, I never even needed the pain medication

that was prescribed. I was very sleepy for the rest of the day because of

the anesthesia. But, by the second day, post surgery, I went back to work

and didn't experience any more pain. I cannot remember exactly how long

after the operation that my RE gave us the heads-up on ttc. I'm thinking

she said about 2 months. I would have waited anyway because I wanted to be

completely healed up in there. I didn't have any problems getting pregnant

again after surgery. We probably started ttc about 3 months post surgery

and I became pregnant within 6 months. Try not to be nervous! That surgery

is really a breeze - especially after what you've already experienced with

your pregnancy and loss. My pregnancies before the surgery were pretty

similar to what you've described, except two of them went to pretty late

term. But, those two late term losses were probably caused by my Factor 5

blood coagulating thing more so than my septum (for which I've had to take

heparin injections during this pregnancy). You will be fine and your next

pregnancy will have so much better of a chance after you get that septum

resectioned. I'll be thinkin' of ya on the 31st! It'll be a great way to

start off the new year - with a roomier, better uterus!!

Hi ,

I just happened to read your reply and was very useful to me as well

since I should have my septum resected. I wanted to know whether you

had your hysteroscopy in the hospital under local anesthesia

(spinal/Epidural) or you had it done in your doctor's office

with/withou anesthia?

My doctor offered me to to it either in his office with no anesthesia

(as they do it for more than half of their patients with SU uterus.

He also aoofered hyst/lap, which I probably won't choose. Would you

pleasze give me more details.

procedure. I had anesthesia, but not local. I was totally asleep. I

preferred it that way. When I woke up, I didn't have to wait for an

epidural to wear off. I didn't feel much pain afterward - just sleepy and

crampy for the rest of the day. I am so hypersensitive to pain. I wanted

the least invasive procedure, so no lap., just the hysteroscope. And, I was

given Versid (sp?) during preparation, before they put me under, because I

was very nervous. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't be so nervous.

It was all over in such a short time and I was back to myself the next day.

As for the surgery itself, my RE just went in vaginally with the

hysteroscope and when she cut into the septum, it all snapped back into the

uterine wall nicely so that she didn't have to do much cutting. She gave me

color photos of where she cut and of the septum after resection so that I

could see what happened. All that I have left is about a 1 cm dip at the

fundus of my uterus. And, it hasn't been a problem during this pregnancy.

You'll have to go with your own comfort level. Best wishes to you with what

ever you decide. I think you'll be so glad you had the surgery done. Mine

really went so smooth and easy and now I'm going to have a baby - my first!!

It was well worth it.

Hi Zohreh, Ask your doctor if you could take birth control pills, thats what my

doctor had me do so that I wouldn't have to wait until a certain time of month,

I

just didn't take the placebos , I started a new pack otherwise I wold have had

my period during the surgery. Just a thought, I know how hard the waiting is.

Another newbie here...I've been reading but this is my first time

posting. You all have helped me more than you can imagine through

your messages. Thank you for the support!

I too have been dx with a SU as well as endometriosis. I am going in

Monday, 5 Jan for hysteroscopy for the septum removal and laproscopy

to laser off the endo. My RE prescribed progesterone to me which I

started taking on day 2 of my cylce to prevent ovulation. She also

scheduled my surgery on day 10 of my cycle...all in an effort to

minimize the lining and create the best environment to see and

identify the endo and septum and to ensure no possible pregnancy (a

small miracle at this point). I'm not very nervous (yet) about the

surgery...more excited and anxious to get it done and to start ttc

again. The one question I've not been able to get an answer to

is.....How long after the surgery do we have to wait before we can

ttc? Do any of you have any idea on that?
