Guest guest
Hi Poly and all- My surgery with Dr. March and Dr. Koopersmith and been temporarily postponed. I am hoping they call me today with the new date. I had to wait until the unexpected period went away- they put me on birth control pills of which I will not break from until the surgery. I saw Dr. March again, last week and there is a quite of bit of concern that there is obviously an "unknown" problem occurring in the back of my uterus which is not making this a classic case of Ashermans (if you ask me I don't think any case is a classic case) but something is causing infections to kept forming and that is not good. Dr. March feels that my tubes look damaged beyond repair and might take them at time of surgery (which in regards to keeping infections away would be a good thing). He thinks that he is going to find flat scaring and that my lining might be totally destroyed in most areas( due to the infections). He believes there to be endometriosis and probably some adhesions connecting the bowels to the uterus but he truly will not know until he gets in there. Dr. Koopersmith will be up on top and Dr. March will be down below. I have been streaking blood after pain bowel movements and Dr. March thinks there could be a series of perforations in the uterus. To say the least I was so depressed last week I was beyond posting info. - Mentally doing much better this week and I am anxiously waiting for the call about my surgery date. Dr. March is making me stay in bed for 7-10 days after surgery- the unknown factor causing infections has him concerned and he will be pumping me full of antibiotics. He told me at the end- to think positive nothing is impossible look at Lee- so we shall see. Y

Guest guest
Y, Did you get a new surgery date? I hope you can find out what is causing your infections. This certainly is not something that other Ashermans sufferers have and I hope you get your answer soon. Does Dr March feel that the where your lining is totally destroyed, then it will not grow back? Kind of like asking questions for my self really but it will be interesting to know what his thoughts are. Thinking positively for you. Guest guest
Hi Poly- I have a very tentative date of June 27. I sure hope that is it because the waiting game is killing me. But that date, if it sticks, will be better for me to get my work load in line for a weeks departure. Speedy answers and an end to the pain is my goal. Dr. March feels that the Ashermans is being complicated by what ever is causing the infections and he feels that he will probably find that the lining will be totally destroyed in some areas and it will not grow back. He said that is the problem when you put infections into the Ashermans picture with the flat scarring. Poly didn't you have flat scarring? Did you ever have any infections? Guest guest
Y, I hope you get your appt for 27 June and you finally can get some answers. I so hope that Dr March is wrong with his belief that the lining will be totally destroyed in some areas. You wrote: " He said that is the problem when you put infections into the Ashermans picture with the flat scarring " Have you looked at our Members profile list, under column " presumed cause " ? This column suggests that most of our members got ashermans from a post partum infection. It would be interesting if someone studies this column against the successful pregnancies they have had. Of course this would mean having to ask these members more questions about how severe their infection was and how long they went with this infection etc etc. Yes, I did have flat scarring and I did have an infection from retained placenta. The retained placenta went undetected for 3 weeks. I almost died from this infection. I was bleeding constantly and I was under the hospitals care at the time. I requested to extend my stay in the hospital so as to be near my one living son who was fighting his life in the NICU. On the 10th day after I gave birth, I almost fainted because of the pain but they still did not take any notice of me. They made me lie down and put my feet up on a pillow. She told me I would be feeling better after a while. Funnily enough, I was and I got up and was discharged. The fact that they discharged me without doing any examinations on me, was one of the contributing factors for having a successful out of court case! My bleeding had a bad odour too and I was not aware that any bad odour's means infection. Looking back now, I feel I should have studied to be a doctor before trying to have a baby! They never tell you anything and they never pay any attention to your worries. Unfortunately, the only person who takes notice of what happens to your body is yourself, but sadly at the time, my son was dying and the last thought in my mind was my body!! By the way, the infection I had was called endometritis. Poly
