Guest guest
a subject near to my heart! i spent hours with that store owner. my daughter would shake her head and tell me how wrong cindi was. but you know what? it's her store. i learned volumes from her and if you can hang in there, she may know what sells in her store. and if she's all wrong, you still win. =) packaging is the heart of your product (although we would like to believe otherwise), and you will see some real garbage out there in a pretty box. it's the pretty box that sells. everytime. i was raised with the " don't judge a book by the cover " mentality, but we live in a plastic-surgery world =)

I can't believe she would actually say what she said to you anyhow. I think that says way more about her than it does you! Let me ask you this, do you have a logo? Guest guest
Let me ask you this, Kathy: Do YOU like how your soaps are wrapped? Do YOU feel they are attractive and represent a side of you that you would like people to see? If so, don't worry about one person. There is always someone out there wanting to rain on someone's parade. After all, she could always unwrap the soaps once she buys them, right? *nodnodnod* You bet she could! Strive to find a soap/label/whatever that pleases you and that shows to the world your unique style. And if someone doesn't like it (and it's the minority not the majority), I say screw 'em. Guest guest
Thanks, , I have run into this before and ignored it but this lady really got to me. She said " Just because you don't think you are beautiful, doesn't mean you can't package your soaps beautifully. I'm a retired psycarist (oh shoot I can't spell it)I can say that " . SO I came home thinking I'm ugly my soaps are ugly, I'll just eat worms and die! I do like my labels, they are simple but like you said that part is going into the trash anyway. I use white bottles for the bath gel, and would like to add some color to that, I don't use the ivory label there. But I didn't consider them ugly... I guess I'll mull it over for a day or two and see if I get inspired. She mentioned netting but we'll see. Thanks for the pep talk! Please don't subject yourself to that kind of condescention unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't think I could feel comfortable selling something so personal as my soap to someone who was so callous with my feelings. Guest guest
Kathy, Cheer up, I don't think I'm beautiful, but I like my packaging, LOL. Really that was " extra " , just wanted to tell you that a shop here in my town told dh that my soap (packaging) looks like something you would buy in a grocery store. Turns out, " SHE " just doesn't want anything local. I had had 2 employees and 1 past employee from her store tell me that my stuff was just what they needed for thier baskets. I have a friend and her husband does unique iron work. took 3 pieces of it over to this place. While they were talking, 2 pieces sold, the owner told my friend " oh I don't think that will go well here " , she had just sold 2 pieces in a few minutes. Go figure. Your stuff if fine, leave the worms for the birds and make soap, plenty of people will like your stuff fine. Hey, just a few min ago, I had a guy that wouldn't buy from me cause I am doing a special soap for a local radio talk host and he doesn't like the talk host. Told me no, if you are gonna (never finished his sentence), I don't want to buy from you. I smiled and said, sure fine. LOL. Good ridance. Guest guest
I would tell her that the majority of your clients love the soap as is but you would be glad to custom design some wrappers for her own use (for an extra fee of course). I get clients that are real rude sometimes so I just charge them more. If they want to be a pia then let them but just charge them extra for the privilege. Then you can laugh all the way to the bank.
