Amy,

I know how you feel. Retainers suck. It is imperative that you wear

them per your ortho's directions. I had braces as a teenager, didn't

wear my retainers properly, and my teeth completely moved back to

their original position. I then had to have a whole round of braces

again as an adult plus upper jaw surgery. Of course, the surgery

would have been needed whether I wore my retainers or not, but I may

not have needed a whole 2 year course of braces first had I worn my

retainers properly. Needless to say, this time around, I am wearing

my retainers 24/7.

If you have a special dinner, meeting, whatever, it is okay to remove

your retainers for a few hours at a time, maybe once a week or so.

Congratulations on getting your braces off! Before you know it,

you'll only need to wear your retainers at night.

Cheryl
