Guest guest
I'm writing in to see what some of ya'alls thoughts are on why I'm having such a low energy level these last several weeks. I'm 13 wks preg and granted I have a 2 year old but I'm normally a very active and interactive person on the go all the time but lately all I wanna do is lay around--literally. My house/yardwork is beginning to suffer (not that it's everything, but it does have to be done) and more importantly I'm feeling like a horrible wife and mommy. I used to take Drake on outings, bike rides, walks, all kinds of stuff but lately I find it hard to even get on the floor to play with him. I know my husband is wondering what's going on too....... I just didn't have this constant feeling of being " worn out " when I was pregnant with Drake (and I was working with a classroom full of 3-5 yr olds all day!). I've done some reading and talked to some women who say it's supposed to get better in the 2nd trimester but many women I've talked to say it really doesn't. I just cannot be like this much longer! I'm so unmotivated to do anything and it's making me crazy!! Is there anything (natural of course) that I could try taking to give me a boost? I know exercise is a good suggestion, but honestly, I can't even begin to get back into that when I can't even get up to put the laundry away!! Guest guest
Hi Fawn, I remember all too well how exhausted I was when I was pregnant with . I never had morning sickness, but I can't even begin to describe how physically exhausted I was for the first 3-4 months. I would get home from work and I couldn't even get off the couch to have supper. I often went to bed for the night before 8 pm. The exhaustion did pass to some extent. I would still be tired but not that physical tiredness. I too was very active. I would walk/run for an hour each day and about 1/3 of the route was uphill. When I was pregnant you would be lucky to see me walking through the grocery store lol. I hope it gets better for you. low energy level > I'm writing in to see what some of ya'alls thoughts are on why I'm having > such a low energy level these last several weeks. Guest guest
That's what I was going to suggest. I have been anemic with every pregnancy and taking the iron really boosted my energy! Guest guest
Fawn, When pregnant with #2 I was still nursing #1. I felt really run down during the first trimester--maybe beyond. I think the turning point for me was when DS (#1) stopped nursing overnight. He didn't sleep through, but I was able to rock him back to sleep instead of nursing. It sticks in my mind that this made a big difference. Prenatal vitamins were essential--no energy if I didn't take them. Never had a diagnosis of anemia. Had to take a nap when DS did during the afternoon. I even switched from a two a week to a three a week aerobics program at the beginning of the 2nd trimester and did aerobics until the end of the pregnancy. Hope you find a solution for your situation, Amy Lynn mother to 1-25-98 and 2-10-

Drake really isn't nursing much at all now. In fact yesterday was about the second day in a few days where he didn't nurse at all. boohoo! He was out and about with Daddy and fell asleep in the car for his nap and then laid in bed with us and fell asleep last night. He has been waking up quite frequently this last week and all I have to do is put him right back to bed but it is exhausting to be getting up 5 or 6 times in the night. I think he may be working on those 2 yr molars, can't really tell. Anyway, thanks to everyone for your ideas and input. Guest guest
Hi Fawn, Like others have posted, I also would find myself asleep by 7 pm during my first pregnancy, just could not keep my eyes open. I would come home from work (feels weird typing that - I haven't worked outside the home in about 14 years lol), have dinner and lay on the couch. Before I knew it I was asleep. With my other pregnancies I also experienced the fatigue, but it wasn't as bad as the first time. I really think exercise helps this. My last pregnancy I did not exercise, and I felt the difference across the board. Also I always felt more beat during the warmer weather, once the cooler weather sets in you might not feel as tired.
