Guest guest
hello everyone. just returned from my follow up appointment with the surgeon. the pathology report was very positive (though not as clear cut as wendy's). going into surgery, i had 2 nodules, 1cm and 3mm. the final pathlogly report showed that the larger tumor was actually 8.5cm. the 3mm turned out to be a large follicle and not cancerous. the cancer " seems " to be encapsulated but it is literally at the edge of my right thyroid lobe. other then this little uncertainty, the rest of the report was very good. left thyroid lobe shows no sign of abnormalities " completely clean " . i also saw my nuclear/endo today. dr. mcdougall said if it were not for the fact that the tumor was at the edge of my thyroid, he would feel that rai would not be needed as he was positive that the tumor was contained. however, because it is located at the edge of the throid, he is 60/40 for rai because it would remove all uncertainties. so since i am already 2 weeks into my hypo, he is starting me on my lid next week. today was blooddraw to see tg, tsh as well as calcium. btw, i think my paras may have kicked in as for the last 3 days, i have only been on one 1200mg of calcium (vs the 3600mg for the first few days after surgery) and i have not had the tingling and twitching. the voice is still just a bit strained and the neck is still tight, but i am very delighted for the report. pressing on to the lid, scan, ablation and feeling strong with all the support from all of you. god is good....so good. may he continue to bless all of us and guide us through the hurdles ahead of us. yvonne pap ca. 8.5mm dx 8/13/02 tt 9/5/
Guest guest
Hi , We may just be going through RAI at the same time! I have an apt. with my Endo tomorrow(9/19) and I will find out more. I am one week and a day without my thyroid as well as any meds. My doc feels that since you have remaining thyroxin in your body after the thyroid is removed....it is about 2 weeks worth...why go on anything until after the treatment. I am going hypo naturally too! Even though the cancer was contained in my right lobe with 2 tiny nodules he still wants me to do RAI.....a good precaution and a good way to track you from now on is what he told me. All I know is that I may go on a lower dose(that's what he also said)....is that possible?? Your report was great...no spread at all and the best thing is you are cancer free and will be feeling healthier than ever. What I am reminding myself all the time is everyone is different in the experience of surgery, recovery and going hypo. I am knowing right now that our energy is in tact....we feel full of vitality and ease. You know....the hard part is over!!!! Surrender and let spirit carry you through this....you may feel like resting anyway...huh!
