Guest guest Posted July 26, 2005 Report Share Posted July 26, 2005 Going to the doctors on Thursday..I will be getting my bloodwork results. Unfortunately I am getting really frustrated with this.. Long story short..( I hope) Nov..goiter..ultrasound enlarged diffuse goiter..blood work TSH 0.92, Free4 and # both in normal range but high end of range..hyper symptoms..January Endo..says come back and see him when my numbers get worse..tests antibodies..neg.. monitoring via GP..monitoring via bloodwork, no meds..24 hour holister monitor for high heart beat, normal blood pressure. no change in blood work but goiter enlarging..Do more blood work..WCB comes back high..but normal break downs.. Platelet count high..doctor reasons from inflammation, says I am getting hyper days and flucuations because the thyroid is dumping meds..but because it is no consistant it is not changing the labs. Decides to try PTU ( antithyroid drug) ..Take PTU for 2 1/2 weeks, allergic reaction big time..taken off the meds and told to wait two weeks and redo bloodwork..TSH, T4, WCB, platlets etc.. Although only on PTU for a short time it did calm down the rapid heart, and although not a noticeable difference in swelling, the pain in my neck and the swelling right under the chin did calm down..I felt good and got some sleep.. two days off the meds and I was having a really rough rough time..it was like everything that was blocked got dumped all at once..things calmed down from that but now I am back to rapid heartbeat, pain in the neck, shakey etc. The fun goes on and on.. The doctor has not given me much for options. If I start losing wieght then he will suggest RAI, if my goiter gets much larger then he will suggest surgery..neither option I want. I really think if I can get my thyroid to rest then I can have it functioning the way it is suppose to.. Generally I am healthy other than chemical/drug allergies..and I have had a problem most of my adult life keeping weight on..although the last two years or so it has basically stayed on.
