Zoloft & TSH Suppression

Hi all--

I need some help. I am a 6 year papca survivor. About a year ago, I had

a major episode of depression that lasted about 4 months. It was the

worst depression I have had in almost 20 years. When it was clear it

wasn't going away on it's own, I went to a primary care doctor to get

some help. He prescribed 50 mg of zoloft. It really helped a lot, like

a night and day improvement. What I didn't know, was at the time I was

slowly drifting into hypoland.

A couple months after I started zoloft I was at the endo's and he drew

blood which came back with a TSH of 6.049. He immediately raised my dose

to 200mcg. I didn't think to tell him about the zoloft, and he didn't

ask if I had any new meds. 2 months after the dose increase my TSH was

down to 1.7. He asked if I was missing doses, mixing it with calcium,

etc. I told him I wasn't missing any doses. He increased the dose

again, having me take a 200 every day and .25 every other day. 8 weeks

later I had blood drawn and my TSH was down to .7 He said it should be

..1 and once again started to question me about my meds compliance. At

this point I started to feel both puzzled and insulted that he keeps

thinking I don't take my medicine.

He said to get blood drawn in 4 weeks and if its not any better we will

have to raise the dose again. I am not thrilled about that. My hands

shake. I lay awake at night listening to my heart beat out of my chest.

I feel hot and irritated all the time now. Since I am taking the

medicine, the only thing I think that could be different is the zoloft.

I haven't been able to find any info about drug interactions between

zoloft and synthroid. I'm not sure if this is all in my head, or if I

need to call the doctor. I would like to hear from anyone who can shed

some light on this subject for me. Thanks.
