Guest guest
I'm originally from South Dakota.. a little town on the south east border called Yankton. Sure don't miss it! Major farm country. Cows and corn I am currently living in Kingsland, GA. We are actually going up to Chicago first to attend the Bichon National Specialty which will be loads of fun! Then another 10 hours to home. I will bring a ton of ibuprofen, since I'll be cramping and hurting from being in one position so long. Someone said something about the connection of child abuse and autoimmune diseases.. I was very much verbally abused and in a very angry environment for my first 18 years, until I FINALLY moved out. I hated it there. don't get me wrong, I still love my parents, but it wasn't exactly a nurturing environment. I have MANY issues with myself that come from the criticisms of family members, much which have caused my introvertedness. Not to mention the low self esteem/self worth, etc etc. I will never forget the piercing words spoken by my mother... now I was a size 11/12 entering high school. Not the tiniest, but not enormous either! She said " you're going to be so fat, they're not going to be able to squeeze you through the door! " Any wonder why I am the slightest bit apprehensive about returning home? Keep reading! If it were not for the loving and understanding of my husband, I would surely be in a more psychotic state, so to speak. I have not been home to visit family for 3 years now... 3 years has added: 40 pounds, a lost job, several dogs! So, Grandma and mother will not be happy about the weight gain " But Tiffani, if you'd only lose some weight you'd be so pretty/successful/etc. " Grandmother and father will criticize my choice of " career " (dog showing) " why don't you choose a more worthwhile and successful career? " etc etc.. it's a wonder why I even go at all! <sigh> However, I'm sure it won't be that bad... families can be the worst. Now that I've brightened everyone's mood.. LOL I hope everyone sleeps well tonight and feels great in the morning. (((Hugs))) Tiffani Hallan Kingsland, GA Diagnosed May 2001, suffering since 1996.
