I am 18 days post-op and have the splint and bands and swollen and

painful upper lip. talking is something i avoid. when i do have to

talk to people a lot of them seem to get uncomfortable with it.

sometimes i tell them i had jaw surgery and can't talk so well. i

guess i'm supposed to talk to keep things moving but it is an effort.

i don't expect things to improve until the splint is out and that may

be 3 more weeks.
