,

You have every right to feel that way as all of us probably did or

still do. I am now 8 days post op and sitting here looking like the

lion in Wizard of Oz or Hannibal in Silence of the Lamb, ha! The

best medicine is to will yourself to get up and around or at least

sit up. The swelling will go down so much faster and when you start

seeing progress is when that feeling of helplessness starts to

disappear. Gosh, I feel so sorry for you but your not alone on this

board. I had my upper separated into a " Y " expanded and moved

forward and the bottom moved back. I felt the same way, like

someone lit a stick of dynamite in my mouth!

Bye the way, I'm wired shut and will be for 3 more long weeks!

You'll do fine..............Clarissa, hehehe

Good luck,

Ronnie

Hi ashley,

I'm 12 days post-op. I was told it's the steroids they give you that

cause the crying. Keep your fluids up. It will get better. Each day now the

swelling goes down. And just rest.

Hang in there, You're over the worst.

Hi, orcapeach...

First, you're not gonna die. So try to breathe in and out, and get a

bit of a relaxation from the panic.

Second, dunno about the hot and cold, but maybe that's cause to call

your surgeon.

Third, the crying probably comes from the anti-swelling steroids

and/or the anesthesia. That will get better as you get the chemicals

out of your system. Meantime, stay hydrated, with lots of water and

other fluids.

Put your energy to work figuring out something you'd enjoy... A soaky

bath, maybe. Or a new video. Some guilty pleasure that doesn't

involve food or eating, preferably.

And just try to keep on keeping on. Yesss... It will get better.

Promise!

you sound just like i did last week. i had my surgery on 7/7. i was

not prepared for the misery. now i'm 12 days post-op. i can say i

feel better than i did 5 days ago. i remember holding my head and

thinking i just wanted the pressure to let up. luckily the next day

i did feel better--not great, but better. i just kept taking

degongestants and the pain meds fairly routinely so i would sleep.

but i was just where you are--hang in there, take the pain meds and

sleep if you can. i put water on the stove and breathed the steam

which helped. sleep elevated. and know that you are not alone. but

it was much worse than i expected, too.

try just taking some pain meds and SLLLEEEPPPIINNGGG lol. It makes

the day go by faster. you might wake up a little groggy... but

sleeping always helped me. I must agree with you tho, i felt the

same exact way... ugh, it really WAS horrible... but it does get

better. i started to feel better around the 7th day or so... but i

was still exhausted and didnt want to eat. but by 2 weeks u should

feel like your normal self again, besides the weight loss and

swelling. i hope you feel better!! keep your head high and sleep!

hehehe.
