thanks, so if you have an LP, and a degree, and some house of

people vote this into effect, then prioritizing applicants

will change, right?

Some house of people would be the Texas Legislature. Would those of

you tracking this bill report back on the status? Exempting them from

the core courses would be an interesting twist.

Correction: exempting them from everything EXCEPT the core courses.

Hey Mike,

You will notice it only applies to LP's that all ready

have a degree. But its a great step forward.

Why are we always trying to make it easy for people to get out of

EMS and move on to " bigger and better " things? Don't get me wrong,

I am all for career advancement and personal growth! But some

people, not naming any names, are always tyring to look at ways to

make it easy for people to get out of EMS. If you want to go to

nursing school or medical school go for it! I think that is great.

But why not try channeling your efforts to better the EMS profession

instead of trying to get people out of EMS?

Why not look at ways to improve pay and benefits? Instead we look

at ways to get into nursing or whatever, or we look at ways to get a

Paramedic certification in 4 or 5 months?

This is the problem in EMS. We want the easy way out and that is

why lots of EMS people are underpaid and overworked. And that is

why we are not looked at as a profession!

Let's look at ways to keep good quality EMT's and Paramedic's and

not lose them to other professions!

Just a thought!

I think it's a great idea, but what about other " degreed " people? Wouldn't they

also have most of the same core classes completed? Imagine a certified

radiology tech, physical therapist, respiratory tech and such wanting to go into

nursing. Shouldn't they receive the same step up as licenced paramedics? I am

sure that their field and degree plans also included some of the same core

classes. Just a thought.
