Guest guest
Dear CHARGE list- My brother-in-law is just at the beginning of investigating a symptom our (medically unremarkable) niece has had for quite some time. When our niece , age 15, experiences pain she passes out. For example, she hit her knee while getting into a chair. As she was in the chair talking about how much her knee hurt - she just blacked out and fell out of the chair. I do not know how long it takes for her to come out of the " black out " phase. From what I am led to understand, this is consistent whenever she experiences sudden large pain. I commiserated and expressed my concern, told him of all the specialists we have, a neurologist isn't among them, and I made him promise to look into this symptom. I also got his permission to ask at our CHARGE list serve for any insights anyone might have. Thank you all so much! The only two other " medical " things I know about her is she was once diagnosed as high-cholesterol and when she was an infant/toddler she had a significantly asymmetrical head shape, which spontaneously self-resolved (she was rather insistent about sleeping on one side only) with love and smiles- Yuka
