I’ve read that dark under-eye

circles point to food-related allergies.

I was always told that the dark circles I have always complained about

were sinus

related allergy. It's not?

Hi everyone, thought i'd butt in and mention this site....

http://allergies.about.com/od/darkcircles/a/aa071304.htm

there are a few links to other pages that are a little informative.

I get those too, when i went on the atkins diet, they almost

completely disappeared, that's how i found my celiac and food coloring

allergies, they get horrible looking when i eat what i shouldn't!

also has dye allergies in addition. Dyes give him the

darkest circles, though he gets them from other things as well.

The dark circles can be a sign of a lot of different things.

Sometimes migrane suffers also get what is called a " racoon mask "

when they have a migrane or one coming on. Hemophiliacs also get

them.

I am still learning this all, but have noticed a correlation in

with eating something he shouldn't ... like sneaking one of

his brother's cookies (which are in the process of being phased out

of the house) and the dark circles.

Needless to say the circles where the first thing I used to mention

at every appointment.

I will keep looking at as much as I can and narrowing it down as

much as I can. And even though all this feels pretty daunting, I

feel like I am finally starting to make some progress.

Thank you all!

My doctors assume I've got a lot of allergies or have iron deficiency

anemia. Both are currently true. My circles are far, far worse when

I'm anemic, but I always have them. I do have year round allergy

issues.

Most of my allergists have associated under-eye circles with

environmental allergens. I've been told repeatedly that severely

atopic individuals almost always have " allergy shiners " .

they don't bother me, but I've been known to play them up with eye

makeup more than hide them. ;) I'm guessing y'all don't want your

children to wear thick black eyeliner on a regular basis.

For those worried about undereye circles, yellow concealers hide blue/

purple fairly well.

Before our daughter was diagnosed, she had really dark circles under

her eyes. She is now 4 1/2 and if we look back at photos of her

from the time she was 12 months - 19 months, many of her pics look

like she has a shiner. (black eye)... okay, a bit of an

exaggeration, but she did have those dark circles under her eyes.

It didn't take long for them to go away after getting the diagnosis

of CD and going GF.
