Guest guest
Cool...thanks for the tip!!! Now maybe I can have some that aren't crumbled all the time. :-) in VA Re: Re: Mission Tortillas Did ya'll know that if you warm them in a baggie in the microwave that they won't "crack" when you fold them up? I micro them then throw them on my flat cast iron skillet andfill with cheese, meat, whatever is leftover in the fridge! Ican then put them in a plastic tupperware container for the kidslunch! And they don't get brittle and crack.Got that tip recently from an Hispanic coworker! Works like acharm! Couldn't understand why she would bring tacos for theoffice and they weren't disintegrating! kathi

Guest guest
Never tried it that way, but the baggie lets them sweat a bit so it's probably the same. Doesn't take long and they fit just right. I had 'issues' with using a plastic bag at first until I realized I liked the NO crumble better than saving the economy! So paper towels isn't any better! hehe Give the baggie trick a try and let us know!! I like to be able to stuff 6 or so in the sandwich bag and let 'er rip! kathi --- " Calacci, Bridget " wrote: > So this works better than putting them between two wet paper > towels and > microwaving? > > ________________________________ > > From: SillyYaks > [mailto:SillyYaks ] On > Behalf Of :-) > Sent: Friday, February 03, 2006 9:22 AM > To: SillyYaks > Subject: Re: Re: Mission Tortillas > > > Cool...thanks for the tip!!! Guest guest
I jsut wondered, bc I find they still crumble even when done this way. I make my own flour one's now, bc of the crumble issue, but it would be nice to have an option. It wouldn't be so bad if it was me that had to deal with this, but it's my 4 year old son and in case you haven't had to deal with that they do not like crumbly taco's!!! Guest guest
I get them everywhere they sell the flour ones! Usually in their own end cap display. Look down towards the bottom. But the tortillas we're talking about--I think--are the small 6 " size. The kind that fit into a sandwich baggie! If you can't find them, ask. Surely they get them or CAN get them for you! They freeze too! kathi --- Persichilli wrote: --------------------------------- Do you know where you were able to buy the mission corn tortilla wraps? Guest guest
Sounds like you need a tortilla warmer......here’s an example: http://www.mexgrocer.com/10071.html Paper towels or plastic bags will be a thing of the past, if you have one of these little babies! Put tortillas in the warmer, pop it into the microwave for approx 40sec (depending on how many tortillas you’re preparing). Works like a champ! I’d never go back to doing it the old way. Where I live, the dry desert air tends to dehydrate tortillas, into something like a tortilla chip, in a matter of a few days. I have found that tortillas can be resurrected from the brink of being unusable, by “gently” (or else they will disintegrate in your hands) wrapping them in a damp paper towel, sticking them into the tortilla warmer and microwaving as usual. If you live in a “not so dry” environment, you probably won’t ever need to use this extra step. -----Original Message----- I had 'issues' with using a plastic bag at first until I realized I liked the NO crumble better than saving the economy! So paper towels isn't any better! hehe kathi

Guest guest
Non-crumbly....I miss the days of flour tortillas! Speaking of flour tortillas....I wish I could find a recipe (that doesn’t call for purchasing a mix) that my kids and husband would like. I tried the recipe in the Yak files....but my kids didn’t care for it. If anyone has GF flour tortilla recipe they absolutely love, would you send it out pretty please!
