I know you aren't supposed to treat the thyroid until the adrenals are treated. Does that mean you have to wait for the adrenals to heal first? Basically, you just need to have adrenal support in place before starting thyroid. However, you probably want a bit of lag time to adjust dosing before you add thyroid. My ND doesn't have me on hydrocortisone or anything, just adrenal support nutrients and amino acids. I added 4 drops/day of Lugol's iodine a few days ago. Should that be enough to help my thyroid? I don't know. Some people seem to get big changes with iodine, so it may depend on your particular situation. I am not that knowledgeable about how to treat thyroid, so perhaps others can offer more input on this. You can also search the archives for more on iodine, and you might want to join the NaturalThyroidHormones yahoo group. Here are the blood results for my thyroid from August 2006: > TSH 1.194 reference 0.350-5.50 (which should be more like 2-2.5 for the upper limit!) > Thyroxine (T4) 7.4 ug/gL reference 4.5-12.0 > T3 Uptake 29 % reference 24-39 > Free Thyroxine Index 2.1 reference 1.2-4.9 I don't know how to interpret these. The ones I know how to interpret are free T3 and free T4. > I will talk to my ND about supplementing with lithium. > > I am going to call Tuesday to see if the biological dentist somewhat near me uses Diamond Lite. If he does, I will make an appointment for a consultation, unless he can just start removing my fillings right away. > > I just ordered Andy's Hair Analysis book, so that will help more too. It's different from the AI book. Explains the counting rules and other signs that mercury is a problem. T3 uptake not useful in this kind of situation, or wiht the rest of the information. Very hard to tell here if there is a probem or not, either get a T3 or preferably free T3 and the FREE T4 they SHOULD order instead of the " FTI, " or just see if your doc wants to try titrating up Armour thyroid or equivalent from a low amount and see if symptoms improve. Guest guest
" Did you notice improvements from the Mo and Se? " I am getting behind on my replies! One thing I noticed with Mo is dream recall. The product I was taking was an amino acid supplement with molybdenum and a small amount of MSM. I am wondering if it helped sulfation enough to clear some Hg and increase acetylcholine levels. I am still not sure HOW it worked, but it definitely made me start dreaming a little, and I have had dreamless sleep for years. I am not sure about the Se. I started taking a product by Thorne called MediClear. It is detox support among other things. I started really craving this stuff (another thing that led me to believe I was toxic), so there is something in there I need and am getting. It also provides NAC, glutamine, chromium, Mo, Se, usable forms of B vitamins, and more. It definitely made me detox. I started having joint pain within a few days (another indicator of toxicity), which I had never experienced before. My ND said she has never had anyone get joint pain from that before. I have been backing off it recently a little, because it might be a bad thing while I have amalgams. There is definitely something in there my body needs though. A friend of mine thinks I am crazy for craving it- she doesn't care for the taste. :-) My cravings were so bad that many mornings I would wake up with it on my mind. He-he. I can try finding a link of ingredients if you would like to take a look at it. Thanks, Olif

I remember starting to dream again around the time I started serious adrenal support. I also increased my magnesium intake around the same time. My sleep improved a lot, so maybe just the improved sleep improved my dreaming. I also got rid of my restless legs, which was fantastic! It is so great to dream again, isn't it? > I am not sure about the Se. I started taking a product by Thorne called MediClear. It is detox support among other things. I would not tolerate the sweeteners in there, and possibly some other ingredients I have never tried before. What is quercetin chalcone? I know quercetin is a bioflavanoid (I used it for allergies some years ago), but what is the chalcone bit? Overall Thorne does have good quality supplements. I would be a bit suspicious about getting joint pain from it. I don't trust " detox reactions " . If you feel it has helped you overall, though, that's good. --
