Only I left Brooklyn when I was 19 in 1957 to live with my new husband in and near Cleveland, Ohio. But my parents remained in Brooklyn, Boro Park, until they retired in 1973. We visited frequently and we moved to NJ in 1966, June 6th to be exact. I have found NY to be dirty some times, clean others. I was last there in May 2001, visiting family in NJ and showing Manhatten to a friend who came with me from CA. I love the city, tho I would not want to live in it. People have always been friendly to me, something is always doing, it was just a good place to grow up - for me. I went to Jefferson HS and City downtown, on 23rd St. Remember shopping downtown Brooklyn? Remember Juniors? Did you go to the Alan Freed shows at the Brooklyn Paramount?
