Peg,

I was complaining about these same two issues what seems like just the

other day. !!!! My theory goes something like this.....we are hungry and so

our stomaches are saying " hey bub skip the water I want Food!! " I felt like

food " settled " better than water. Mornings were the worst. I needed to go

real slow with both food and water. I found really really cold water was

best for me maybe it numbed the discomfort a bit?? Make sure that you wait

after eating like a whole hour, then try really cold ice water. I haven't

got the whole 64 oz in yet but I'm working on it and it is getting a bit

(read that tiny bit) easier. lolI I had my rny 7/24/01 so I am not much

further along than you but thought I should " share " lol I felt like drinking

water was like just too much of a shock, hit my tummy too fast . I ate

sugarfree lifesaver pops for weeks to keep liquids flowing. best of luck.

Peg,

3 hours in between meals is too long in my opinion. It I don't eat every

couple hours, I'm doomed for sure, especially when consuming liquids.

Not being able to drink was a bit of a problem for me. I found that

excessively cold water bothered me...room temperature was best (for me),

some others say opposite is better for them, unfortunately, it's trial and

error, and what you find suitable for you.

My suggestion is this: Continue to drink whatever you can, sip broths of

soup if you must, Popsicles, anything non carbonated/caffenated to replenish

fluid intake. You don't need water per sey, as long as you're getting in

some sort of fluids.

Keep us posted!

I'm hungry a lot

Hi gang,

I feel hunger an awful lot and I know that most people, especially only

3-4 weeks out, don't.

I had a large protein shake 3 hours ago with CIB, 1/4 cup milk, and half

a container of yogurt. Couldn't quite finish it, but I'm hungry

already. I didn't think I would be feeling actual hunger pangs this

soon after surgery.

What's up with that? Anyone else feel actual hunger so soon? I think

it's strange.

Also, here's something interesting: eating doesn't hurt whatsoever. I

have to go slow like everyone else, but I never get pain.

But drinking almost always hurts, even smaller sips. I cannot get

anymore than 3 glasses of water in a day because it's painful to drink.

Swallowing pills with liquids is a chore because a tiny sip won't get

the pill down.

What's the deal on that??? I'm starting to hate drinking because of the

ache it gives me.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Peg

Hi Peg!

I get hungry about every 2 hours. I don't eat much when I do eat so I

figured that is why I get hungry more often. I have my days where I have

to MAKE myself eat and other days it just comes naturally!

On another note to anyone...The last couple of days I have been

throwing up after eating meats or like last night I threw up on a baked

potato. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I am doing wrong?

Eating to fast? This is really starting to be a pain in the arse if ya

know what I mean. I NEEEEEEEEED to get some protein in me without

yacking it back up! :) Let me know if ya'll have any suggestions.

Kim,

I found these Atkins drinks - 20g of protein and only 2g of sugar -

you can find them at Stop & Shop - the liquid may stay down better

and this gives a good amount of protein. Good luck and if you keep

vomiting - you MUST call the doctor.

Take care,

Anita

Well I'm 2 yrs out .. I eat all the time now .. granted I'm

pregnant. I still eat small meals and several times a day

but man I really don't feel anything close to how I did

those early days when you feel full on so little. Seems I

can eat more and more often than ever.

My total pregnancy weight gain so far at 20 weeks is 13

lbs. My midwife says thats perfect. It terrifies me. I've

tried explaining it to her .. I fought for so many years to

lose weight, to have the surgery to lose the weight .. then

I gained about 10 lbs back stabilizing and I was ok with

that .. but now another 13 .. so up almost 25 lbs from my

lowest point and it FREAKS ME OUT. ..

of course I want a healthy baby and this is not a time to

diet but I also tell myself try not to eat crap either ..

and I will just have to work damn hard after the baby is

born to try and get off the excess weight.

Kim,

Your body will go thru a " catch up " time, where the body and all the stuff

happening inside need time to realize what has happened to your body. You

will have your moments where it may slow a bit, or stop for a bit, but it

will all start again. Continue your intake, water, exercise, and you'll be

on your way to losing more!

Hang in there!

Stomach crunches...I was told usually after about the 2 month area, but

check with your Dr.

Kim ...

I know how you feel EXACTLY !!! I was stuck for about 5 weeks and then BAM

!!! I lost 3lbs and 3 more 4 days later ... You just have to try to relax ( I

know how hard that seems but its true ) Put the scale away for a while and

concentrate on how much better you feel ... Things will start moving again ...

Also make sure you are taking your vitamins and eating enough protien ...

Our first responce to a platue is to think " Oh great I'm going to fail at

this too... Just like everything else " But really it is just our bodies way

of protecting itself ... Think back to before you had the surgery and how

much food you ate in a day .. Now look at how much you eat now ... Our bodies

are going " WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE !!! YOU EXPECT ME TO LIVE ON THIS

!!! " You just have to give it time to adjust ...
