strange is this story…… All 4 coaches had

PSC!!

The Hoops

4 Healing Classic was generated after

three Canton-area basketball coaches, Hal of Malone

College, Steve Loy of Walsh

University

and Bruce Brown of Lake High

School, were

diagnosed with a rare liver disease, primary sclerosing

cholangitis, or PSC.

Chuck , then director of athletics at Wooster High School and another former basketball coach, also

was diagnosed with PSC.

Of the

four, and eventually had transplants. Steve

Loy's condition developed into liver cancer, and he died in February 2004. Bruce Brown continues to monitor his condition.

The bond

of a common illness, along with the men’s shared relationship with

basketball, led to the development of the Hoops 4 Healing games…………..
