Guest guest
O.K. folks...I'm under stress and fighting off old food habits one year out. I opened the fridge his am and found a blender full of...? when did I make it/ It seems I made bakers coca and instant non-fat milk in an attempt for a soothing hot chocolate..never seen here in about 10 years. I threw away graham crackers and 2! jars of peanut butter. Now get a grip. I have made my morning protein drink and am sipping it slowly. I have 1/4 cup of yogurt mixed with oatmeal...small. my lunch box is filled with salad/scallops and crystal lite...and my 20 oz h20 is ready to roll. I have just come back from a dog jog and I'm taking my zoloff. This is I'm sure related to the recent events and although it has been said on the lists we should not go into it I need to say; I was born in Lenox Hill Hosp.NYC; grew up in OysterBay NY, lived on East 7th street and had a store for 10 years in Chelsea. My best friend lives? in Independence Square(the worlds largest apt.bldg. since 1976 when it was built( eight blocks from liberty square where the towers were) my nephew's wife has NOT been found as she got off at the battery to drop the child at day care(he's ok) When my kids were growing up we named the twin towers Jimmy, the Chrsler bldg Lilly and the Empire state bldg ann. They are in a book I wrote. So I too have NYC roots. I've lit candles, put up flags and prayed my mantra om shanti om (which stands for world peace) but the fridge reflects my blackouts. Help Priscilla Please don't ignore my post as being too off subject thankyou!
Guest guest
Priscilla, First, I'd like to tell you I'm sorry about all the stressors you're encountering right now. It sounds like you're having a rough time, but it also sounds like you're on track big time! You first threw things away, made your lunch accordingly, and even remembered your water! Now THAT'S a huge accomplishment in itself! I can't imagine how you feel about the NYC tragedy, knowing all about that area personally. It really hits home when you hear of people who grew up there etc., and I imagine those feelings will be worse than most experiencing their fears, sadness, etc. One thing I've been trying very hard to do, is make the negative into positives. Although it doesn't always work, I try, and that gives me a feeling of accomplishment and satisfied " fears " suddenly seem not as bad. Example: You are aware of things in the fridge you don't need..you tossed them. You planned your lunch..AWESOME! You went for a walk/jog with the dog..not only are you bettering yourself, but you also made the dog happy! You lit candles in remembrance of those lost, but gained self respect by doing so. I really think sweetie, as much as it may seem sucky now, you are in the right direction and deserve a pat on the back for it! HUGS! Dawn food issues O.K. folks...I'm under stress and fighting off old food habits one year out. Guest guest
Pricilla I am so sorry that you are going through tough times. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about those black outs. I have seen programs recently on people that get up during the night and eat and are never really awake during and they never remember doing it. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
Hi Priscilla, I'm sorry you are going through a difficult time. I don't quite understand (from personal experience) about the sleep eating or whatever you're doing but I do know it is a real and serious condition. I can say that I too have been struggling with a lot of preoccupation with food and mindless eating that scares me. I know it's because I'm stressed about the tragedy that is all-pervasive at this point. All I can offer is some support by letting you know I'm sitting in the same boat as you are. You are not alone. Also, as others have pointed out, it does sound like you are doing a great job of 'rescuing' yourself in this time of crisis. Good for you!
